Seems to be a slow news…I mean fic day. Guess I’ll load the car with my packed boxes and taken them to storage.

I wish my dad would stop hassling me and when I’m going to take my stuff, and deal with the stuff in the garage! He still has a ton of shit to go through and throw away and what’s left will be going to the back to storage, then the stuff from the smaller unit, then the furniture. Well my clothes have to be in front as well so that I’m not lugging my entire closet with me to my sister’s place. And the smaller unit…it’s half full with more of my dad’s crap so there’s not really any place for my boxes.

Yeah, if my dad wants me to move the boxes from my room, he needs to free up space in the smaller storage unit so I have more space!

Oh, and I think the good car finally got washed? It’s been like 2 months and the rain from Thursday didn’t help much lol that’s a lot of dirt lol

so...packing (of course) and I have upwards of 4 large flat rate mail boxes (size 12" x 12" x 5 1/2") for cards, pictures and stationary, plus a couple of boxes (size 11" x 8 1/2" x 5 1/2") for pictures alone.

I have too many pictures (and stuffed animals but that's another story) and keep too many cards and letters. I mean, I kept notes from middle school and high school when passing notes was all the rage lol one day I'll go back and re-read them. I don't know if I'll throw them away just yet though.

also, I think I'm packing at just the right rate. sometimes it doesn't seem like it because my shelves are still full, but I don't have the space for all the packed boxes. so I'll pack about 10 boxes, take them to storage, re-organize the unit to make space for more of my boxes, then come home and repeat. Last that will be packed are my clothes. I don't even know what clothes I'll be taking to my sister's for the month.

That's what I should have done!

So I'm packing up more boxes and it dawned on me that while I'm labeling what in the box, I should have also made a note as to if I was bringing it back in my room. It makes sense to do that since once we're able to move back in, I'll only want the essentials - I don't want my room to look like a storage closet again.

The rest of the boxes I pack will be more "organized" but not really. I'll be marking whether they'll be returning to my room or remaining in storage. That will also help with we finally move to the larger unit. The stuff not coming back can be put in the back of the unit where as the stuff returning will obviously go to the front.

I honestly don't know why I didn't think of doing that before. I wonder if I should be nice and suggest to my parents they do the same thing. Our memories aren't what they used to be and we may know RIGHT NOW what's coming back and what isn't, come mid-December, I highly doubt we'll remember.

-----------

Now for the fun. Friday night was the yearly Downey/Warren football game. Crosstown rivals and all that so for that reason, it's a HUGE game.

I didn't get many pictures (fiddling with a camera, even on the phone, will cause you to miss something awesome...but then you won't have that "something awesome" in print to show off), but I got maybe 5 or 6 plus a video at the end.

clicky )

and that's everything.

Better late than never, right?

One of the local Southern California stations will be playing back to back White Collar episodes. Thankfully they are parts 1 and 2 of the pilot.

It also looks like it'll be on weekly and in order. Yes! Tonight it's 8-9 pm then 9-10 pm. Next week I get episodes 2 and 3, also from 8-9 and 9-10

I guess I'll be downloading Last Resort as that comes on from 8-9 pm. That's okay. I'm not invested much in that show.

PS time is slipping away! Holy crap! 36 days until we have to be out! 36 days for me to find someplace for my cat! What is it with vets being closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays?! BOTH places I wanted to call were closed! GRR! Gotta try tomorrow.

My bathroom supplies are in a 12x12x10.5 box and my jewelry and makeup are in two 11x8.5x5.5 boxes. I have some pictures currently in an 11x8.5x5.5 box, but found another box of pictures, so I need to go to a larger box. Currently going through all my hair products/supplies. I'm sure that's going to have to go in a big box, but I'll start out with a small box first. Maybe I'll throw away a bunch of the hair stuff

sigh

I also found some legal/medical docs that I didn't pack with my other legal/medical docs, so I need to make a 2nd box for those.

I haven't thrown away as much stuff as I thought I was. apparently the shelves were just messy and made it look like the stuff was crap to be throw away lol

I remember someone on my friend's list posting about the BIC "For Her" ball point pens...well today I got this email

Lizet Elaine,

Are you looking for something in our Writing Supplies department? If so, you might be interested in these items.

and it was about 5 listings for BIC "For Her" ball point pens

ps we have to be out of the apartment in 47 days.. on the 29th we get the larger storage unit and begin moving from one unit to another so that by November 7th the apartment is more or less empty. November 8th my dad's going to shampoo the carpet and November 9th my parents leave for vacation. I'm debating on if I should tell J & N that October 29-November 9 I won't be ale to volunteer so that I can better help my parents with any last minute packing, and also sort through the clothes I'll be taking with me to my sister's (although I could make weekly trips to storage to change out my clothes lol)

sometimes I really wonder about the comments I get on my fic.

I wonder what they look like and if they really do get as excited as their comments come across to me.

I really really need to ask my sister if I can stay with her in November and December. I'm just embarrassed to for some reason.
I also need to finish packing up my room. Before long, I'm going to have to pack up the China cabinet...and gah this packing thing just makes me mad. not really I have to pack, but that I'm being told to pack things that aren't mine and that I don't use. The stuff in the China cabinet is all my mom's collected stuff. it's stuff she need to go through and decide if she wants. Because, hand to God, my decision would be to throw it all away. Hell, that's what I'm doing (or will be doing soon-ish) with a lot of the knick-knacks in my room. I just need to pluck up the courage to do it lol

A couple weeks ago I watched Captain America. I thought it was too slow, but it was more funny than it was meant to be? I don't know.

Last night I watched Thor. it was a much better super hero movie! Action all the way through and lightly peppered with funny stuff.

I think I'm ready to watch The Avengers even though I haven't seen either Iron Man movie (and have no real desire to) and I haven't seen the Hulk (any versions of it).

I just finished watching the Nero Wolfe series. I really liked it and sort of wish there was more. I have Gamer, Natural Born Killers and Where the Wild Things Are to watch...as well as whatever other pre-ordered movies are set to be delivered to me in the coming weeks. I need something to help me get through all the packing I've been doing.

Hmm...what to have to breakfast. I'd like to have a bowl of cereal, but I don't think what we have (stale raisin bran isn't as appealing as my dad thinks) and well driving...let's not go there.

went to the mall today. had a stupid 1 hour limit because of my stupid dad. they didn't go anywhere all day but I had a time limit of 1 hour so I had to rush around. Just my luck that Sears didn't have my shoe size and when I did find my size, my feet were too swollen to fit. bummer. On to Lane Bryant. bought 2 bras because they were having a buy 1 get one 1/2 off sale...and I have a $10 off coupon. Saved $25 total. Not bad.

Then, just now, I did a bit of online shopping at amazon. pre-ordered season 2 of H50 and bought season 2 of Doctor Who and the complete Nero Wolfe series. I think for my birthday I'll treat myself to some more dvds, a new lap top and a new phone. It's not like anyone in my family would actually get me anything off my wishlist and I'm just about bursting at the seams with "pink stuff" as that used to be a simple request in previous years (anything pink would be a nice gift, last year I learned my lesson when I was given a pink bag FULL of random pink items. I may be easy to please, but I do have a limit.)

Now I'm packing up my DVDs. Why? I don't know. I'm not packing all of them. Just the unopened ones and ones I watched in the last month or so. I should probably pack my books as well. If I get the bookshelf out of my room, then I'll have space for the packed boxes until we get that larger storage unit...whenever we get that larger storage unit (I heard the end of the month, but my dad changes his mind too much to keep track)

I should be worried about finding a full time job and someplace to stay for the month my parents are on vacation, but all I can think about is that from November 8 to sometime in December I'll be able to drive the car wherever and whenever I want.

This has me so excited. Because now every time I want to drive, I have to wait until one of my parents is going someplace because my dad always says "oh, this is a bad time, I was going to work on the car" or whatever excuse he happens to come up with. The only exception was last Saturday when my mom and I had a birthday party to go to, but my mom was at the nail salon and we kind of needed the car, but I didn't need to be at the salon with her, so I drove my dad for him to do his errands and dropped him off at the bus stop and he went to do whatever work for his mechanic friend and I got to drive around (not too much because it was hot out and the car was running hot) until it was time to pick up my mom for the party.

so yes. a month of driving by myself. a month of being able to go out for a drive for the hell of it. will I do it often? I don't know. but I'll have the option to do so should I get bored on the weekend or on a day I'm not working. I won't have to wait for my parents to decide they're ready to leave.

however, this all comes with a ton of responsibility - obviously. I'll be responsible to making sure there's always gas in the car - and none of this filling the tank halfway like my parents do. that would make me have to fill it up twice as often.

and I lost my train of thought thanks to a pic of Alex hugging Scott that was taken on the 19th. Or maybe it was Scott's ass...

it's big...the picture not Scott's ass )

and now my parents are packing up the China cabinet. why is my dad insistent on packing up WHEN THERE IS NO FUCKING SPACE FOR ALL THE BOXES! He keeps saying at the end of the month we're going to get a larger storage unit, but the living room is looking like a scene from Hoarders or something! So glad I don't ever invite anyone over. I'm embarrassed by the mess.

oh sweet!

a plus about moving: I can throw out all those address labels I got in the mail from different organizations that wanted me to donate money to them.

and I get to make new address labels once I know where we're moving to. I like making address labels!

Yesterday on my way home, I kept thinking that while it would take me nearly 30 minutes less to get home by bus, I really didn't want to leave my city. And that's odd, because I don't really DO anything in my city. I live here, and the bank branch I set my account up in is in the city, but I volunteer in Compton, my job/church is in Lynwood, and my nail salons are in Bellflower and Norwalk. Some Sundays we'll have lunch at Arby's in my city, but most times we have lunch at Carl's Jr. or El Pollo Loco in South Gate. But I love my city and don't want to move from it. I don't even mind having to learn a new address and postal code (Downey has 3 I believe).

I kind of want to pack up my room and live out of boxes for the rest of summer.

I kind of want to toss a lot of the knick knacks on one of my bookshelves.

I have far too much shower gel, bath wash and body spray. I think people have been trying to tell me I smell.

So much stuff can go into storage and stay there until I'm really ready to go through it.

Do I really need 12 cookbooks (slight exaggeration) and 30 cooking magazines (no exaggeration there, I haven't gone through them to take the free recipes out)
