So that package that was supposedly delivered on November 24 to my old address was actually picked up by the post office. THEY LIED TO ME! They told me they didn't have any packages for me!

I found this out when I finally called Amazon and told them I never got the package. I asked if it could be redelivered and the lady I spoke with said she'd check and get back to me.

By 5 pm yesterday I had an e-mail telling me that the package was going to be re-delivered to my sister's address and I'd get it by 8 pm. on December 20th. Thankfully that's a Thursday, so I'm going to plan to stay at my sister's until it arrives or 8 p.m. I hope it arrives early enough in the day because I've got plans.

Now then, my plans for the week:
I need to get to storage to get a couple of red blouses/tops from my unit and the slow cooker from one of the other units.
I need to wash my clothes (I'm out of socks)
I need to go to the grocery store for food stuffs for the church dinner on Sunday.
I also need to go to the mall (or the bank) to at least get gift cards for my sister, M & J. I'd rather get them all visa gift cards and let them get what they want. I figured $25 each for M & J and $50 for my sister and that will be the extent of my Christmas shopping.

There's also work on Wednesday, Friday of this week. Then next week, there's a half day (which I do anyways) on Monday before having Christmas off (which is a Tuesday and I have that day off anyways). Usual day on Wednesday and Friday of next week. I think the 31st is also a half day with Jan 1st off and back at it on Jan 2nd.

I need to e-mail J & N and ask if I can go "full time" volunteering for 2013. My dad has already told me, and continues to remind me whenever we talk (which is why I try not to call them so much) that come next year, he doesn't want me in the house - meaning he wants me pounding the pavement 5 days a week looking for work. Okay, fine. Monday-Thursday in the morning I'll volunteer with Legal Aid, then in the afternoons I'll go to the library and do my job search there since I won't be able to do it at home. Fridays I'll come to the church and do my usual work. This will ensure that I'm out of the house 5 days a week like he asks.

Last Friday, at the volunteer holiday party (remind me to take a picture and post the thank you gifts they gave out!), I got to thinking about going back to school for my Bachelor's degree and possibly going to law school. Listening to the other volunteers who are either in law school or preparing for the bar exam had me re-thinking what I want to do. I mean, I did get my paralegal degree, but every place I look they want someone with experience, even for a legal secretary position (which I would think my 11 years experience as a secretary would give me some sort of foot in the door). However, maybe if going back to school isn't a viable option just yet, I can get whatever certification I need to help me get my foot in the door as a legal secretary.

yeah, I think that's my goal for 2013. research Bachelor degree programs I might be interested in (I'm already fairly certain it will be something criminal justice related) and research the National Association of Legal Secretaries

And now I'm going to head back to my sister's. Maybe get a jump start on washing my clothes.

But I need to start at the beginning...

On November 7, I posted that I wouldn't be able to post again/be online until Friday, however that wasn't the case.

Wednesday my parents went to get the Uhaul truck and were gone for nearly 6 hours! Why? Not more than 15 minutes after they got the truck, they got into an accident! The brakes went out and when they moved to the left to avoid hitting a car, they still hit the car and big time crunched that car's trunk in! Since this happened after the Uhaul facility closed, they had to call the 1-800 number to get them to contact someone who could bring a replacement truck. Police report was taken, no one was injured, however, they got hone far too late to even begin to move stuff into the truck.

Thursday, we started bright and early at 7 am and loaded the truck. HOLY CRAP! It took us, and by us, I mean, me and my dad, 3 hours to move the bulk of the bookshelves and 2 beds. Then it took another 3 hours for us to unload everything into storage! By the way, it started to rain while we were unloading the truck! I wasn't a happy person at all! That night, when we got back home, had the intention of packing up more of the truck, but that didn't exactly happen. I ended up falling asleep (on my floor with hardly any blankets because they were packed away!) at midnight and my parents were still packing up!

Friday, when technically we should have been done Friday, we still had a corner china cabinet, dining room table (my mom wants to keep), 2 dressers and a bunch of other crap to move, oh and they were still packing! I loaded up the car and told my dad I was going to pick up my friend/cousin Cynthia because she offered to help us move the remaining stuff. I pick up Cynthia and in 3 hours we get more stuff loaded into the truck and car and make another storage run. We should have been able to make 2 runs and get the entire apartment packed and loaded to the truck and to storage before they had to be at the airport, but I think my parents were running on fumes. My dad was not doing anything he needed to do. Finally I told him that we were going to load the last 2 heavy furniture units on the truck, he was going to call Irma (the manager) and see if there was a way I could turn the keys in on Monday) and they he had to wash up and put on fresh clothes so they could leave. My dad called the Uhaul people and worked it out with them for me to return the truck since it was nearing 12 pm and they needed to be at the airport before 130 pm. The Uhaul was left at storage, Cynthia went with us to the airport and my parents made it through everything with minutes to spare! When they got to the gate, they had begun boarding! Cynthia went back to storage with me, and in 30 minutes we had that sucker empty and were taking it back to the Uhaul facility. Here's were more drama happens! We used a quarter tank of gas and my dad was supposed to give me money to fill it back up. He forgot, and that's understandable, and I didn't know how much it was going to take to fill the tank back up. I put in $10 but aparently that did nothing because it was still at 3/4 tank. They charged me, well my mom's card $55 for that! On top of having the truck out 2 days instead of 1. The guy who my parents were dealing with came in and was like "you weren't supposed to charge them for gas because that was the deal I had with them after I took the replacement truck to them on the 7th." Well the card had already been charged and I don't have it since it's my mom's and they're on the other side of the country on vacation. So the manager (who initially charged for the gas!) is going to give us $50-$55 off our next rental.

If we didn't have Cynthia's help, I don't know what would have happened. Irma was nice enough to allow me to keep the keys until Monday ad Cynthia and Chad will be helping me pack the remaining stuff to put into storage. My dad said I could throw a lot of the damaged stuff from the garage away.

I have my fingers crossed that today and tomorrow we can get the stuff packed away and into storage. Irma said she needed the keys at 9 am on Monday, but my dad said I work on Monday so I have to get the keys to her as soon as possible. The apartment will be worked on first thing Monday morning.

My parents are safely on their cruise ship with my Aunt and Uncle. My parents will be out of contact until November 18 when they get to my brother's place.

I'm at work now trying to get some stuff I neglected earlier this week and last week, then I have to wash clothes, pack them in storage and go back to the apartment and finish packing up. I hope I get all this done by Monday!

My bathroom supplies are in a 12x12x10.5 box and my jewelry and makeup are in two 11x8.5x5.5 boxes. I have some pictures currently in an 11x8.5x5.5 box, but found another box of pictures, so I need to go to a larger box. Currently going through all my hair products/supplies. I'm sure that's going to have to go in a big box, but I'll start out with a small box first. Maybe I'll throw away a bunch of the hair stuff

sigh

I also found some legal/medical docs that I didn't pack with my other legal/medical docs, so I need to make a 2nd box for those.

I haven't thrown away as much stuff as I thought I was. apparently the shelves were just messy and made it look like the stuff was crap to be throw away lol

going through my clothes and packing up what I want to keep but don't foresee wearing in the next 4 months.

It's come to my attention that while I have a lot of clothes, none of them are no longer considered "business" appropriate. I can "dress up" a lot of what I have, but it still comes across as business casual and I feel woefully under-dressed when I go to the self help or domestic violence centers.

I think the next couple of month I'll be getting more business suits - skirts, slacks and jackets and packing away some of my "business casual" stuff.

I have like 6 pair of jeans. I almost always live in jeans. when I go to work (at the church) I dress however I want, but since I've been volunteering at the self help center, I've been having to dress up more, even for those 3 hours I'm there. When I used to work at the other church (back in 2007) I dressed neatly, almost business casual, because right after I went to night school and I didn't want to be lugging around a gym bag, my backpack and purse 5 days a week. But the point about the jeans...sometime in May, N, my supervisor, approached me after my shift and was like "we sort of aren't allowed to wear jeans." They actually weren't jeans, but dark flowly dress pants. Wasn't going to debate about what my pants were or weren't so I said okay and left. haven't worn those pants since - at least to the Self Help center. I've worn them to the Domestic Violence Center though.

point of this was that I need to get more business like clothes...or wear my Sunday dresses (that I no longer wear to church because I wear jeans hah!)

I'm spent!

I spent 2.5 hours washing ALL my dirty clothes and blankets (6 loads of clothes and $15 later) and I should be putting them away, but it's just too damn hot and I'm too damn hungry.

In between waiting for the wash cycle to finish, I went to get a gel manicure. I hope I'm able to keep my natural nails long. I need to keep taking vitamins so that they get stronger and won't be as prone to breaking as they usually are after I've had acrylic nails for a month. I've been acrylic free for about 2 months now, and depending on how my natural nails hold up, I may or may not get acrylic come September for my 30th bday (it falls on a Sunday and I'd really like to do something special, but I can never get friends/family to want to do something with/for me).

I'd order a pizza and go pick it up, but my dad is fiddling with one of the cars (you'd think he'd learn from the past, but nope!) and I don't want pizza that badly that'd I'd pay for delivery.

tell me what makes more sense:

1) loading up all the dirty clothes and going to a laundromat to wash/dry clothes - it's cheaper and can do more loads at one time

or

2) using the washer/dryer at the complex where you live and washing 1 or 2 loads at a time, AND SPENDING MORE MONEY.

It costs $1.25 to wash and $1.00 to dry on my side. across the driveway, it's $1.25 to wash and $0.75 to dry.

At the laundromat I can use a jumbo washer (and fit twice as much clothes in it) for $2.00 and at the most $0.50 to dry (depending on how thick the clothing is) and I get done faster. 2 hours tops for all the dirty clothes, vs 1.5 hours to wash and dry ONE LOAD at the apartment!

my parents are giving me shit about wanting to go to the laundromat (I do have to ask to use the car because it's theirs) and they can stay here and clean out the garage.

so I said fuck it and put a load of clothes in the wash here. but if my mom suddenly decides she wants to go to the laundromat, I'm going to throw something!

getting rid of clothes (mostly shirts & dresses) that a) I haven't worn in years & b) I can no longer fit.

just when i make a dent in the clothes on hangers hanging up, I notice several large bags on the floor that ALSO HAVE CLOTHES IN THEM!

so I have to go through them and make sure I can't fit them before automatically marking them for donation.

Oh, I also have a tub of slippahs (aka flip flops). I'm pretty sure I fit them still. I'll clean them up and see if they'll be fit for donation or if they're still too dirty looking to donate, then I'll keep them.

I've been up since 830 putting off doing stuff...anything

now it's almost 1 pm so I should properly start my day.

TO DO LIST
laundry
clean kitchen
clean bathroom
get sandwich from subway (maybe)
write...write...write...write...write...write...write...

silly me, I joined [community profile] 10_letters but it doesn't look to be very active. That's okay. I'll still work on the tables I picked (I'll post them later, along with the cover art I made)
simplyn2deep: (Default)
of the school books I'm keeping there are way more than I thought.
13 on my bookshelf
6 on the floor (need to make space on the bookshelf)
5 on a rolling cart - they need to be sold

and then there are my DVDs!
164 on the DVD shelves
26 on the end of my bookshelf
13 sitting on the chair by my bed

(I think I have a DVD addiction lol)

I won't even go into the fiction books on my other bookshelf. They need to be organized as well. Maybe I'll find some space for my remaining school books there.

also rather fitting for today, I'm going to watch Hackers. but not The Social Network. what other online/internet movies are there?

while I wait for new fic to be posted, I should probably do something about the state of my room.

it's entirely too cluttered.

I have a few boxes that are packed and could go to storage, the stuff at the foot of my bed could be re-organized and possibly put in storage as well. AND I'll also need to go through the stuff in storage. my little 5x5 unit is at its max. Most of it is stuff for when I get my own place, but the majority of it is dolls and stuffed animals I refuse to part with.

but yes. re-organize my room and pack stuff away in storage. That's what I need to do while I wait for fic to read.
