I've taken the first tests in my 4 classes.

87%, 81%, 80% and 76%.

I got the 76% because the instructor gave everyone in the class 4 extra points, otherwise, I'd have 68%. I'm not pleased with this at all. I know there's 3 or 4 other tests in the class, but I just don't like/can't follow how the instructor does the lecture (he basically re-reads the book in between telling real life stories and insulting people in the class). I'm going to have to do extra credit because I want to pass the class with a B, though for transferring, a C is acceptable.

The other 3 classes are much better because we have a workbook that we fill out as the lecture goes - we're basically writing our own textbook for the class.

Also, today in my second class 2 people were supposed to bring cookies and what do you know...they weren't in class! The teacher said on Tuesday we need to "narc on them" and he'd take care of the rest. Also next Tuesday another girl is supposed to bring cookies and next Thursday another guy is supposed to bring cookies. We'll see if they remember. LOL

Right now I'm in the campus computer lab charging my phone and using the computer. Once my phone is charged, I'll be heading home with a stop at storage. I sold a couple of textbooks from when I was taking classes with ICDC. One book I had in my room and the other I hope is in storage or I'll have to refund the girl her money (and she started classes on October 7).

In more enjoyable news...I've been writing nearly every day this month. Not thousands of words or anything, but like 250-400 words on a good day. On a really good day I can do 500-700 words. Last week I did nearly 1000 words. I wish all these words were going towards a fic I can post soon, but it's for a big bang that won't start posting until FEBRUARY! Isn't that ridiculous?! I'm probably like 2000 words from finishing it, and I'll have to sit on the fic for 5 months! I need to remember to message the mod and ask if there was a way to move the posting date up if a majority of the writers are finished so that artist can claim a fic to do art and we can get this big bang moving along.

First I heard back from FAFSA about my financial aid and my application was processed successfully!

Then I heard back from Cerritos, and that application was accepted!

LOOKS LIKE I'M GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!

I'm looking around the college's access website (where I'll register for classes and have access to my grades) and it looks like I won't have to take many classes over. This is good, but also bad. Good that I don't have to take the class over, but bad that I have to find more classes to be considered a full time student (3-5 classes).

I'll need to have 2 sets of transcripts sent to this college, but thankfully I have like 2 months to get that done. Fall classes probably start the 2nd or 3 week in August. I'm so looking forward to playing email/phone tag to get that accomplished from ICDC!

I also need to make an appointment with a counselor. That needs to be done soon as well. Preferably once transcripts have been delivered, but I'll call and ask to be sure.

I'm just so happy!

Funny thing...I haven't told my parents yet. When I got the 2 acceptance emails, I went to twitter and facebook first. My parents are on FB, but don't go to my page unless I tag them. I don't plan on tagging them with this news. It probably seems weird to others for me not to tell my parents since we live in the same apartment and everything, but I just don't want to until it's time for me to pick my classes. I don't want to hear the lectures or deal with the arguments.

I'm doing what it takes for me to get a full time job. Employers want someone with a Bachelor's Degree? Okay, I'll go back to school for that and who knows, I might find a job on campus when I eventually no longer have the job with the church (due to a potential merger and a bunch of other unexpected stuff).

For the last 6 months I'd been hoping that a position with Legal Aid would open up, but I don't think that's looking good. They're steady getting volunteers, but to my knowledge, no one is being hired.

heard back from the school. the e-mail is/was legit.

apparently my username is my name plus my original password.

so I log in for more information and get this message:

You are not yet eligible to register for graduation because you have an outstanding balance. To pay this balance, please contact Victoria Goykhman, Tuition Financing Specialist, at (xxx) xxx-xxxx, extension xxx. Once your balance is paid in full, you will be able to register for graduation. If you feel you have received this message in error, please contact Stephanie Perez at (xxx) xxx-xxxx, extension xxx.

Umm whut? As far as I know, the only "outstanding balance" I have are my student loans. And I don't think I would have been able to graduate, as it were, if I owed anything else. So now I have to call back and see what this mess is all about.

But besides that, there are "Graduation Fees"! $39 for graduation fee, includes cap and gown. and get this! $19 per guest that you would like to invite and I have a limit of 5 people I can invite.

Uhh pass on that! But I'm still going to find out about this "outstanding balance" I supposed owe.

eta: so I don't have an outstanding balance and they've made a note of that so I can register for the ceremony...if I was going to attend that is. I think it's ridiculous that I have to pay and then pay for up to 5 guests too. If this would have happened a few weeks or a month after I finished the program and got my certificate in the mail, I would have probably given it more consideration.

So, umm, I graduated from ICDC College online back in November and TODAY, August 15, 2012, I get an e-mail that ICDC College will celebrate the graduation of its 10/15/11 - 10/15/12 Graduates (that means me!) on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

3 things: a) why did no one tell me there was actually going to be a graduation, b) why didn't they tell me they'd be celebrating groups of graduates and c) 3 months notice? I have to rsvp for more information.

My parents won't be here to go to it. That's 10 days into their month long vacation in FL.

I'm going to think on this before deciding if I want to be apart of the graduation.

we shopping today.

First to Walmart. Bought 2 tops, 2 DVDs, some pads (tmi I'm sure) and some batteries. $75 and change well spent.

The to Food 4 Less. Had to get the fixings for the ice cream party we're having tomorrow afternoon and since I cleaned out the fridge and freezer, we needed more food. For the ice cream party, I was given a budget of $40. I spent $40.53. Not bad. and I bought 3 items not on my list. The remaining sum of the bill was for home. I might have went a bit overboard, but OMG I LOVE FRUIT! the majority of what I bought was fruit. Can't go wrong with that, right? That was $59 and some change.

can't do anymore spending on my credit card until Christmas. That's my goal. But I do need to check out baby items around October/November. What kind of BFF would I be if I didn't spoil her miracle baby?! Not a very good one if you ask me!

in the mean time...I still look for work. I still send out my resume. I WILL NOT think about going back to school I just finished my Associate of Occupational Studies degree in the Paralegal field back in November, and don't get me started on how ICDC totally dropped the ball in helping me find employment! I would call the lady who said she'd be helping me find a job twice a week and she never returned my call. I'd e-mail once a week and got the same no response. I did that for a month and said to hell with it. I emailed the director and let him know I wasn't pleased with the lack of communication from those who were supposed to be HELPING me. I didn't get a response. I wasn't expecting one to be honest.

and now I'm annoyed. I'm going to bed

today is my last class.

my advisor called to say that once my grade for the class is posted (and right now I am a bit nervous I won't pass with a C) he'll file my graduation papers

cool.

but the one thing I'm going to miss about all this is not being able to say I have class as a reason I can't do something. I get shit when I say I don't want to as my reason, but damn it, I'm 29 and shouldn't be forced to help someone at an event I'm not comfortable being at.

Anyways, had "dinner" early today. As in I just finished it 10 minutes ago. it's only 4:40 pm. That's even 2 hrs early for the Early Bird Special at most dining establishments lol

I've gotten some lovely Scott pictures posted here and I'd love more! gonna start on that collage wallpaper and maybe even make some 2012 desktop calendars. Hmmm
