I did the trope sorting meme thingy that [livejournal.com profile] haldoor did. It was interesting and I'm not really surprised by the results?

I would probably change the order of the items. My list would go like this:

Now I want to find all the fics in ranks 1, 11 and 20 Age Difference.

and maybe a tiny bit of a hypocrite?

But after the comment storm in the episode discussion thread at [livejournal.com profile] stevedannoslash 2 weeks ago, I made an post that I wanted to keep the episode discussion threads solely for discussing the episode and/or show...and then in yesterday's thread someone commented a lot (albeit in 2 comments) about the personal life of one of the actors.

So I messaged that person asking if they could refrain from doing that.

This is where I feel like a bitch and a bit of a hypocrite because I've been known to comment on the personal lives of the actors...giving information that I heard from other sources without the least bit of evidence as to if what I was saying was true or not, but never to the lengths that this person has gone.

I need to stop that. I need for the people in the community I mod & own to stop that.

until I did something on accident while trying to do something else and someone made a general comment about what I did on accident and wow, it hurt. I mean like...I wasn't expecting that comment and before the comment was made I was going to fix the mistake...but now...now I don't see the point if that's how the person really feels.

and while we're at it. I'm seeing a lot of hypocritical stuff hidden behind big words.

You complain about something. I complain about something. You complain about me (though not specifically me) complaining about something. So it's okay for you but not okay for me?

I'm more hurt than disappointed, but I don't have a mood icon for it.

Last night's episode discussion thread at [livejournal.com profile] stevedannoslash was the most active I've seen it in a long time...however it wasn't all about the episode/show. Many of the comments were about Scott's personal life and the details that some of the comments had left me feeling uneasy, so I did this.

The next thing I might need to tackle is respecting of everyone's views. Comments were mostly okay, but I felt that some were close to going a direction I wasn't happy with but that never happened. I will be paying closer attention to that in upcoming episode threads.

*sigh*

I really need to stop thinking that every complaint was about something I did or didn't say/do

Also, I think I've just met my limit for seeing the phrase "shoving it down our throat".

I also don't understand how someone can say "if you hate the show so much why are you still watching?" (IMO) complaining about what you don't like (even if it's the same stuff week after week) =/= hating the show...unless you flat out say you hate the show (now), then yes, why are you still watching?

I don't feel the need to give my comments when there are others who already point out all the negative stuff and the positive is just so minuscule, again, in my opinion.

But I'll tell you this, you'll know how much I enjoyed an episode by how much I reblog stuff on tumblr about it.

I don't mind change. I know it's necessary for growth, but there's some places I don't want change...or if it has to happen, it's not jarring and unfolds slowly.

That's not happening now with fandom. Maybe others see that it is, or that it isn't happening fast enough. I don't know. I'm just not seeing "stuff" and what I am seeing is like a big shock that I maybe should have seen built up over the last 4 years.

I miss the people I used to talk to about the show, but our opinions are so vastly different now that it's hard to find that common ground to talk on any more - that we would both have to "give up" a lot to get back there. Then there are people who have the same opinion as me, but holy crap! they're at the extreme and the constant complaining and I wonder why you still watch the show if you so obviously don't enjoy it anymore? Change has to happen. Who wants to watch a show that's the same over and over again?

and I can't seem to finish this as I've typed and deleted this 4 times. This is my incomplete thought of an entry. Posting now before I decide to delete again (which I still might do).

curious

what does participating vs not participating in fandom mean to you?

is it interacting with other fans? is it writing/making graphics? is it talking or not talking about the show (whether it be with other fans or getting your thoughts out in your journal/blog)?
simplyn2deep: (Default)
and I know I don't have to do it, but this situation isn't worth loosing people I like over.

I'm going to continue to not be around like I have been in the past. Some journal entries I won't respond to, some I won't even look at. It's to keep myself from getting all pissy and passive aggressive or whatever.

I haven't done episode recaps for the last 2 episodes of Hawaii Five-0 because I don't want to always point out the negative, and no one wants to continually read negative. Will I go back to doing my recaps? Not for the rest of this season. Who knows what next season will be like.

It's just, there's certain stuff I'd rather not see or read, but that only accounts for like 1% because the other 99% I'm genuinely interested in, and that should count for something, right?

But if not, well then, I'll see you when I see you...or not.

For the life of me, I can't remember if there was something fandom related I was supposed to be doing.

I know I need to finish up the next chapter of BWD and get it to my beta, but there's something else.

UGH

why can't I remember?!
