I didn't mean to go MIA since Jan 7.

Like...it just happened?

I went to the eye dr on Friday. They said there's no infection in my eye, but I could have a slight allergy to something? Neither the opthalmologist nor my regular dr is paying attention to the fact that the excessive eye discharge happens after I drink soda.

It doesn't happen after every time I drink soda, but that's when I notice it happening. So am I sort of allergic to soda? I drink soda at most, once a week. The rest of the time its Bubly or La Croix.

If I always had discharge after drinking soda, I would say no more soda as it's causing the problem, but since it doesn't, I don't know. And the ones who would know say it's an allergy to *something*.

Eventually, I'll have a new eyedrop prescription and an appt to go back to the opthalmologist in April. I also have an appt to see the optometrist on Jan 25 and get new glasses. It's been 4 years since I got my glasses and 2 years since I actually had them checked to make sure I have the right prescription. But now, even with glasses, my distance vision is getting blurry, so it's definitely time to have my eyes checked again.

Saturday I did a bunch of nothing. That's not entirely true. I spent more time doing the spreadsheet for my Color Street business. I worked 8+ hours every day from Wednesday to Sunday but I got all of 2020 sorted. I'll be ready with that information whenever I go to do my taxes. Sunday afternoon I got the spreadsheet for 2021 set up. I need to be on the ball about updating it every month so I don't fall behind and have to catch up at the end of the month or something

We didn't go to church on Sunday. Someone at John's work likely exposed them to covid on Monday or Tuesday and he found out on Thursday. Friday he went to get tested. I don't know if it was a rapid test or not. So yeah. No church yesterday. But we did watch it online. Or tried to. they had technical difficulties, but I got 95% of the service.

And now we're on Monday. More of nothing. I talked to my uncle for all of 2 minutes lol It felt like longer? I think halfway through he forgot who he was talking to? But it was nice to hear from him.

Tomorrow is my OB-GYN appt in the afternoon. Before that, I have an amazon fresh delivery and I'll start on dinner. Some chicken dish that's made in a slow cooker and takes 6 hours to good.

I'm really tired (it's only 5:30 pm here) but I need to start dinner.

OH! Law & Order UK is awesome! I'm on episode 10 of season 1 and it's been great!

Can you drive both a manual and automatic vehicle?
Nope, just an automatic

Do you like to color? Are you doing more it these days?
I LOVE to color! I bought myself an adult coloring book (it's just large pictures that could easily be for a kindergartener) and I do it every morning on an app on my phone

Do you know any Morse code?
No. I know what it is but it confuses me

============

Ya'll...when I tell you I was busy today, I WAS BUSY TODAY!

The stuff I ordered on amazon last week is starting to come in, plus Kim and I both got the stimulus, so I was able to buy even more things we need around the apartment and that's ALSO coming in this week (I love amazon prime!)

My DVD carry cases came. I ordered a 6 pack and used 5 of the 6 cases! I know I'll have to buy another one for the DVDs in storage because these will work better than the 12 billion (exaggeration) smaller boxes and reusable tote bags I have them in. According to the description, the 6 cases hold a total of 240 movies, video games, or blu-ray. I HAD 200 DVDs HERE AND DIDN'T REALIZE IT! I'm definitely going to need all 6 cases for what I have in storage!

After I sorted the DVDs, I used the 2 plastic containers for my Color Street stuff. Not all of it fits in the containers, but the area looks a bit better than it did before with about 6 or 7 smaller boxes of stuff. Eventually, I'll get a third container for the last bit of stuff and it can go in the closet.

Yesterday my record player came. I only have 1 record - the one I got at Christmas - and I played it to make sure the player works. It does! Friday, two records I ordered from Walmart arrive. I picked the Top Gun soundtrack and I believe the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.

I really need to spend time in my storage unit looking for my dad's records and his record player. I know he had a good 8 or 9 boxes of vinyl records. I don't know how many of them are still good after being in storage for over 10 years. I know they weren't properly stored, so they're probably warped and no good, but I need to check it out.

I ordered some (Church) shoes and they came today. I love them! I'll now be getting rid of about 4 or 6 pairs of other shoes that have run their course in life. The reason I'm getting rid of so many is because last summer I bought 2 more pairs of shoes but never tossed the old one. In total, I have 6 new pairs of shoes and I haven't gotten rid of any of the older ones.

Coming in the rest of this week are the clothes Kim and I ordered (well really, that I ordered for Kim), kitchen/bathroom cleaning supplies, a bunch of makeup, and a new record from VNYL.

THIS is my Christmas!

Oh! I also bought an LED mirror for when I do my makeup. The last 2 Sundays I haven't been able to do it because of dealing with Kim! So that means I either have to get up even earlier (I currently get up about 90 minutes before Kim) or use the time I'm actually awake to do my makeup, deal with Kim, get dressed, and freshen my makeup if need be before leaving for Church.

Tomorrow I have a dr appt to have an ultrasound of my ovaries. I hope the results get back to my PCP and eventual OB-GYN before my OB-GYN appt on Jan 12.

Then, on Friday I have an appt to see the ophthalmologist. I checked to make sure I have the picture that I took of my eye the last time I had issues with it so they can see what my PCP failed to understand and labeled as allergies and prescribe me drops that make my eyes burn for a couple of seconds after I use them. I've only used them like 3 of the 10 days. If I would have just kept using them, I would have been done with the prescribed time on Jan 3, but the few seconds of pain wasn't worth it. The only thing I didn't do was call and let the dr know. But I'm taking it to let the ophthalmologist know.

So...that's been in busy day...and it's only Tuesday!
simplyn2deep: (Default)
When you were a kid, did you hang up a stocking? What did you always expect/hope to find in it?
I want to say no, but I think I did...at least once it wasn't the mesh kind from the store that had nuts, fruit, candy and some toys. I never had an expectation of getting anything, but it was usually money

What is your favorite holiday song to sing (and it doesn't have to be well as long as you enjoy it)?
Oh Holy Night and sometimes Mary Did You Know

Do you feel that the pandemic has made more people aware of the issues (hunger, homelessness, etc.) that exist all year round and not just at Christmas
I think so, but I also feel like people are more selfish because they don't want to end up like them.

============

I wrapped up the gifts. There are now 5 packages under the tree. It seems kind of useless to have this big tree with so few gifts. I know come Friday there will be more, but right now it looks rather meh.

I think I'm over Christmas now.

I'm worried about the turkey, I want to eat all the junk food but that's not helping my weight (so I eat all the fruit, but not all of it).

Phone consult with my dr in the morning. The results of my pap smear came back (negative for anything) but she still wants to talk about them. Okay. I'll also ask if I need a referral to man an appt with the ophthalmologist or if I can do that myself. I need my eyes checked better than what the optometrist does and get a better prescription for my glasses (should have gotten them 2 years ago but didn't have money).

Now I go to sleep.

Just wondering
What song do you play most often?
There's a couple of songs by some worship/praise groups that I listen to A LOT.

What thing do you really wish you could buy right now?
a new laptop or a car.

What is something that you are passionate about?
I honestly don't know anymore. and I think the last thing I was passionate about was the tv show Hawaii Five-0, but that passion faded a bunch around season 5.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I got a booster tetanus shot. Hours later the injection shot was hurting and a friend tells me that's a side effect that should last a couple of days. I wish the nurse would have told me that, but all she did was apologize for having cold hands, which they weren't, while she was giving me the shot.

Then today I was met with fatigue. I got up at 7am, like usual, and did my color street work before passing out from 9am-1pm!

When I woke up, I looked up the side effects of the shot. Sore arm-check. Fatigue-check. Apparently, diarrhea is also a side effect, so check with that too.

It said the side effects last a couple/few days and mean the body is working on the antibodies to fight against whatever the vaccine happens to be for.

Thankfully with this booster shot, I'm up to date on all my vaccines and I won't have to get another booster for 10 years. Plus the yearly flu shot and eventually the Covid vaccine if my dr says it's safe for me to take it.

Had a rather interesting/not interesting conversation with my mom. I sent her a message last night as a update to what's gone on re: going to dr and this was her response

131670396_399492014500287_2238398899873849366_n

There is SO MUCH to unpack with her short little message (the first one) that even talking to my BFF about it gave me a fucking headache. Like, it was so fast, so sudden and so damn strong that I had to a 600mg tylenol for it to stop hurting!

My mom is right I am closed mouth. I learned from a young age not to ask for ANYTHING I wanted, and unfortunately that translated into not talking about anything with anyone in my family because rather than listening to me they lecture me. So...excuse me for not wanting to deal with that with my feelings.

And the reason I'm depressed, in case you're wondering, is because she fucked off across the country like 4 months after my dad died! I get that she was grieving too, but not even a month after my dad's death her siblings are telling her to come home because California is too expensive and from that point she mentally checked out...like she was already in Detroit.

That left me to write up a 30-day notice and later call and ask for a couple more days extension because fuck it's hard arranging movers and packing up the apartment that we've lived in since 1986! BY MYSELF! My cousin, who has a moving company, is looking at me like it's my fault that we aren't completely packed up. Fuck you too, sir! I'm packing as fast as I can and my mom is going through every single thing that's getting packed like we aren't on a fucking deadline!

*SCREAMS TO THE VOID*

So, I'm pissed, depressed (later this comes out) about being abandoned because I lived with my parents all my life then suddenly it's just me. Oh sure, there's my sister, but there was a disagreement because she didn't like how I was talking to our mom.

Then by the end of May, I had to turn to my sister to live ask if I could live with her because my other living arrangements fell through after a couple of days. And more drama piles up after 3 years of living with her...which leads to the 2nd message from my mom...about reaching out to my sister before she leaves to go to Detroit for Christmas.

131893994_669200670377201_9149855002519061852_n

No. Period. We've been through this before. I'm DONE being the one to reach out to my sister because she doesn't return my calls or leaves my text messages on read for hours or days. So she can contact me when she's not busy. AND she, my sister, had to nerve to tell me to "not be a stranger" and to not just contact her when I need something. Bitch! the only time I've ever asked for anything was someplace to live! And like twice, in the 2 years I lived with her, I asked her for a ride someplace and she acted like I was asking her to take me to San Diego or Las Vegas!

So, you see. Anger. and I know that talking about it to a health professional is going to end with me crying. It does everytime I talk about it.

Happy sigh about getting my hair done in 14 hours

Have you ever gotten any of these for Christmas?

Those are either oil balls/beads or bubble bath balls/beads. We had them in the bathroom, but as far as I know, they were never used.

How about one of these?

I think we also had soap on a rope. They were only used when we were out of soap and hadn't gotten to the store to buy more. So they weren't used very often. I thought they should have been thrown away, but my mom always waited until they dried and put the used one in a Ziploc baggie until the next time it was needed.
I switched to body wash after that heh

What are your feelings on fudge, regular or divinity

I've had fudge before. I like it well enough, but sometimes it can be too sweet for me. and I like it with walnuts.

I went to the dr today for lab work and a lady exam...only the lady exam didn't happen because, in their records, I am scheduled for that on December 16...but the after-visit summary I got on Nov 5 clearly says that labwork and lady exam were going to be done today so that on Dec 16 my dr can discuss all results.
I wasn't going to argue with them. It wouldn't have taken much to bring up my after-visit summary on my phone to show them what the dr said, but tbh, I hate the lady exam. They can tell me to relax all they want, but it ain't happening.
But it was still on my mind after finishing up the blood draw and going to the market, so when I got home, I called my Dr's office to ask them about it.
They told me the same thing the receptionist said - that my lady exam is scheduled for Dec 16 and I told them what was on the after-visit summary I got in November and they said they were going to check on that. I was on hold for 15 mins before they came back and said they were still figuring out what happened and would call me back.
and they never called back.
I'm not too fussed about it, but it would have been nice to talk about those results, whatever they would have been, along with the results from the bloodwork that I had done.
Honestly, though, I'm more anxious/curious about the bloodwork. It's going to tell the dr how my thyroid is functioning, my hormone levels, and if that's the cause of my lack of period, and whether I'm diabetic or not. Oh, and check my cholesterol levels.
More about that when I actually get the results.

Yeesh!

I definitely got too full of myself in my Business Law class with regards to Exam 3. I got 75%. It's still passing and I'm still passing the class, but man...that was a blow to my ego lol

I was less than a percentage point away from an A (90%) in the class, but with this 75 on Exam 3, I'm now firmly in middle B (84% that's less than a percentage point from an 85%) territory.

Earlier today I did Exam 4. I don't know when I will get the grade for that. On December 17 I have the final. It's ONE QUESTION WORTH 200 POINTS!

But...she said that since she grades on a curve, any student [that] receives a 90% on the final exam and did not have enough points to achieve a letter grade of an A [(which is 90-100%)] in this course, that student will still receive an A in this course.

This grading system provides each student [with] the most equitable opportunity to earn an A in this course by learning from past mistakes. Good Luck.

I need to get a 180 on the final and I will likely get an A in the class! I will be happy with my high B in the course because these exams have been so stressful for me...especially with waiting to know the grade on them.

Time to wash the dishes and clean off my bed. I have an early start tomorrow. I have to be at my Dr. for labwork at 8:45 am. Thankfully the medical building is a 5-minute walk from where I live, so leaving at 8:30 gives me plenty of time to account for the lame street signals around here.

For about 2 or 3 days last week I had a toothache. It only got painful at 1 or 2 in the morning, but during the day, it definitely made itself known whenever i tried to chew. So that kind of zapped my appetite.

Then I had cramps. For about 20 or 30 mins. One of my friend said it could be PMS related and I clung to that even though I've NEVER had any PMS symptoms, that I could recognize and when I DID have my period (I went years without having one), I would bleed or spot off and on for over a month (the longest was 45 days!)...and it always started the 24th of the month.

So, this cramping happened, I took some ibuprofen and went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning, I felt fine. I even managed 12 hours without a toothache! I looked hp whether PMS could cause toothaches, and apparently fluctuating hormones can cause dental pain! Okay, I'm sticking with the toothache being caused by PMS and being done with it.

However, it has been a while since I've been to the dentist so I need to remedy that.

The dentist I picked when I got my insurance back in 2014 was about a mile from where I was living at the time.

Since then, I've moved, and honestly, I've only been to that dentist two or 3 times.

Now, I'm 4.5 miles from that dentist, 1 bus there and back, but eww I'm not about that right now.

I went to my dental insurance site to see what dentists were around me and wouldn't you know, there's one that's a 10 min walk from where I live!

Well, I changed dentists on the website. I'm not sure how long it takes to update my records, so I'm calling my insurance in the morning to check, then going to make a dentist appt (its been like 4 years since I've been to the dentist).

Also, the new dentist is in the same building as medical doctors...I might change doctors. But that's even lower on my list of priorities. I'm due for a check up of my lady bits but I don't know how my dr is handling appts. I should call and see.
