I have an election training today. It's going to take up about 7 hours of time. No, the training isn't 7 hours, it's 2.5 hours, but since I'll be on the bus, I need to give myself 2 hrs travel time before and it'll probably take 2 hours travel time after to get home.

Now I could save 2 hours if I can get my mom or dad to drop me off (then I can also get lunch beforehand), then I'll only have to worry about getting home. eta just asked if my dad can drop me off there. nope. it'll be cheaper to take the bus, which means I have less time to help them move stuff from the apartment to storage. Don't bitch at me when we're "not on schedule" anymore.

The point is, this 7 hours, or even 5 hours if I get dropped off, is taking away from time that I could be packing and moving boxes...but if I don't go to the training, then come election time, I won't get paid for working at the polling place, and that's $175 I could really use.

In other news...I think I'm going to start packing up the clothes in my closet. I'll start with the stuff in the back on both sides as those are my moms or sisters things. I don't know why I have their stuff in my closet and every time I ask, I never get a straight answer, or I get, "That's not mine" and when I suggest giving it to good will or the Salvation Army, I'm told no.

Nathan tends to just do what he wants with my old stuff lol it certainly cleared up lots of space. Maybe you should just donate their stuff. Honestly if it's been THAT long since they've used it let alone looked at it, it's not needed. It took me awhile but I finally realized those things. Certain things like mementos obviously are different, but clothing...if it hasn't been used in longer then like 6 months its just collecting dust, and someone else might actually use it is what I started to figure.

some of the stuff is clothing that belonged to my grandmother and it's more sentimental value...oh and they're fur coats (still in good condition) and what are we going to need with fur coats in fucking CALIFORNIA?! LOL I also know that if we send them back to the family in Detroit, they WILL toss it.

Hmmm then Id say package up nicely and put in storage as at least it's not taking up space in the apartment there. My mom lost ALL our family stuff from her lovely roomie last year so I know how sentimental things can be like that. Even our punch bowl from Germany for holidays that was VERY old was taken by this lady.

I wish those space saver bags worked better than they tend to do because I'd put them in that. I think I should research the best way to store fur coats. right now they're hanging up with a heavy duty trash bag over them. That's fine for the closet, but what about in storage?

Damn, that sucks the lady took that stuff. has this lady vanished that you can't get it back?

Yeah I was thinking something likely completely encased in plastic like one of those zippy plastic (thicker) things for clothing at the very least.

The lady is a complete and total crack head she claimed to the police it was her stuff. How can we prove it's ours from the early 1900's from Germany you know what I mean? It's awful because the double wide was HERS it's HER property essentially.

I think pictures of you/the family in front of the property would have done a long way in showing that it was yours.

damn that just really sucks

We didn't have any pictures of us because she took my moms albums also. These were things like plates, other ceramics, jewelery, etc. Not necessarily things we'd have pictures of us with/using either way unfortunately. She even kept the baby books from my sister and I.

Wow, $175 for working the polls! That's pretty awesome. I really should have signed up for that. I don't know why I didn't.

yes it is.

I remember one election, probably the November 2008 one, we got an extra $25 for picking up additional supplies because they under-estimated the initial number of voters so a day before we had to pick up more ballots and the money was the incentive for that.
