I went to the doctor for my post-surgery check-up...it wasn't a check-up so much as to ask me how I felt and to give me the pathology results from the surgery.

I don't have cancer, but I have pre-cancer. I have Complex Atypical endometrial hyperplasia. Complex Atypical endometrial hyperplasia is a precancerous condition that can develop in the lining of the uterus. It is an overgrowth of abnormal cells, or it can develop from endometrial hyperplasia, which is an overgrowth of normal cells. I don't know which I had that caused this to develop, but in doing some searching online, I think that mine developed because of an imbalance of estrogen and progesterone since I was like 15 or 16.

My doctor said there is a treatment for it. Birth control. He said it could be done via the pill or IUD. He recommended the IUD so I don't have to worry about taking a pill. He also said that without the IUD (or taking the pill) I have a 10% chance of getting cancer.

Dr said he doesn't want me to get cancer so he's going to schedule me to have the Mirena IUD put in.

He also said that I need to work on losing weight. Check. But he went a step further and said to limit the calories that I intake to 600/meal, no soda, no juice, no snacking and to work my way to cut down (then out) carbs. Also, I need to be more active: walk instead of drive, take the stairs instead of the elevator...and so on.

I've been doing that, but not with much consistency, so I need to really put forth the effort to be more active as I've already begun work on counting calories.

So glad to hear it wasn't full on cancer, but still worrying. It's good they got to it when they did or it could have been so much worse. Good luck with everything! That's a lot to deal with. *massive hugs*

I'm glad you now know what's happening and that your doctor gave you a solution that will minimize the risk.
