Not a very good picture, but I got my hair done! I like how it came out.
My stylist was shocked and pleased at how much my hair grew and was still soft despite it being 10 months since she last worked on it.
Honestly, I was surprised because I don't wash it frequently, maybe 3 times in the last 10 months? I know people are shocked/disgusted by that, but my hair doesn't need to be washed frequently...also I'm a lazy bitch lol
But, she trimmed the ends before she started working on it. And I think she took her sweet time doing that. My appt was scheduled for 1-3:45pm, but it ended up being something like 1:15-4:50pm!
My hair will last about 2 months like this. I'll probably take it down after about 6 weeks and let it breath for a couple of weeks before going back and getting it done again. I liked how this turn out so much, I'm going to do it again. I like having my hair done special before holidays, so the next time I'll get it done will be right before Valentine's Day.

We had our annual church meeting today. This was the 2nd virtual church meeting that we've had. The last one was in June.
I can't believe we've been in quarentine/lockdown/whatever for this long! March 15 was our last regular church service.
During this annual meeting, the Pastor said to prepare for at least another 6 months of virtual or parking lot services.
I've done 9 months and I remember when I was really worried, to the point of crying, about not being able to do this anymore...but I survived and I've accepted it.
I could easily do another 6 months, but I really don't want to. I'm actually starting to miss getting/giving hugs and I don't normally like to do that.
My hair is wrapped up and I'm going to bed. Hoping for a lowkey Saturday. I'll help Kim with her shower and do her nails because Sunday is our Christmas service at church.
1. How much rain do you get as a yearly average?
For my specific city - 14 inches

2. How much snow do you get as a yearly average?
Again, for my specific city, ZERO! Thank God!

3. Too much sun or not enough?
I think just the right amount, but we need more trees to provide shade because when it gets to be high noon, the sun is brutal!

4. When was the last time you looked for shapes in the clouds?
Probably last summer when I went to the beach with the church or the mountains with the church
5. What was the worst weather event to hit your area in recent years?
Depends on what recent is. Yearly, there are fires throughout California, but I remember back in 2016, it rained a shitton! So much so that the street where my sister lives flooded! I had a little Toyota Yaris and I had to go through a few neighborhood intersections really slow because water was so high. It was scary but I needed to go out because my niece needed a ride home from a trip with her school.5. What was the worst weather event to hit your area in recent years?

Date: 2020-12-19 07:24 pm (UTC)I know when I lived in L.A., I used to get excited/nostalgic/happy on grey days because it reminded me so much of the Midwest. Of course, being back in the Midwest now, I miss the perfect blue skies sometimes. Rain anywhere for more than a day is the pits. I do love snow.
I'm with you about church. The last regular service was hard and we'd thought we might be back at some point in the summer but it's been virtual ever since March. I'm part of the choir so I used to be out there every Thursday for practice and then Sunday for church. We have a virtual choir chat at our usual meeting time on Thursdays but I really do miss singing with them. Tonight we're showing a program that we've put together in lieu of the annual choir concert- there's no big group sing, but rather people doing individual videos or appropriately spaced duets. I get to share a little bit of comedy about the advantages of doing the concert virtually (like not having to worry about being the rhythm-less choir member). I'm looking forward to it but I'll probably cry through half of it.

Date: 2020-12-19 08:44 pm (UTC)That I can remember, I've been to the snow twice. Once in 1999 when we went to Detroit for my grandmother's funeral. My dad made me walk to the light pole in the front yard and the snow was up to my knees! I was NOT happy. I think there's a picture somewhere. The second time was in the early 2000s when I went with the youth group. It was either December or January and we weren't able to go all the way to the mountains as a mile or two ahead of us they were requiring chains and we didn't have any so we found a safe pullover spot that had a fair bit of snow and spent some time there.
That reminds me of something my Pastor suggested. We usually have a New Year's Eve vigil & dinner where there's a service with singing, then dinner, then more singing and then we spend the last 10 or 15 minutes praying one year out and the next year in. We'd been doing it for YEARS, but last year was the first time we (my family group) were able to stay for the whole thing. I loved it so much and we made plans to do it again this year...but well... so anyway, the Pastor suggested the worship music from all of the virtual services we've had the last 9 months be compiled so that we can listen on our own during that time on New Year's Eve. The tech and worship teams are going to get together on that and hopefully make it work.
I miss singing with the choir as well. We have a group of about 20 that's split between our English and Spanish services so people are rotated every week. Sometimes I think there's preferential treatment given by the person who puts the schedule together because it can be a couple of months before my time is up again and I get frustrated. I mentioned it to the leader and he said he would let the scheduler know.

Date: 2020-12-19 08:20 pm (UTC)Your hair looks great, as do you - it's a nice photo!
I looked up our average rainfall for comparison and we get over 50 inches per year in Auckland! We need it as the dams provide city water, but it sucks sometimes.
I hope you get to go to church for real before too long! Hugs are the best.

Date: 2020-12-19 11:46 pm (UTC)Wow. Over 4ft/year?! I looked at the average for all of California and that's only 18 in for the year.
Its funny how the people I don't mind hugging are ones who are like me about hugging - they don't like it much either.
