Writing and thinking
Mar. 23rd, 2020 08:20 pmPurposefully posting this to my personal account even though it relates to
ogsafehaven.
I'm working on the background & characters for my original story and pinging in the back of my head is the pov. Not only for the story but my writing style pov.
Over the last 18 yrs it's been 3rd person limited or 3rd person omniscient.
I feel comfortable writing in that POV and I know that I don't want The Safe Haven Trail written in another POV, but is that what's best for the story?
The scarier thing I have to think about now, is what the driving force of the story is.
As I discover more about these characters, it's becomming apparent that this is about family and the supernatural is a minor point...almost an afterthought of "oh...this would make the story cooler".
Since I actually haven't devoted much thought to the supernatural aspect, do I keep it or remove it?

Date: 2020-03-24 11:32 am (UTC)POV is interesting. I've written in all of them (not so much 2nd person except for the occasional drabble) but I tend to keep the story close with a limited 3rd or 1st person. You could take the tactic to change character POVs on each chapter. When you get to writing, it'll show you how it wants to be.

Date: 2020-03-24 04:24 pm (UTC)I'm trying think about the first fanfic I wrote. It was about me and my friends being friends or in relationships with the guys of *NSYNC and I don't even think I wrote that in 1st person...even though I was clearly the main girl character.
Oh wait...I think that very first fanfic was 1st person. I can vaguely remember the first line of the story. It was something to the effect of "what do you want? It's 3 o'clock in the morning," I said as I answered the phone.
But I would have to look for my printed copy because my electronic copy is on a 3 and a 1/2 inch floppy disk haha

I might do that when it's time for me to start writing...and that also gives me something else to think about. How do I want to start this story. What is my first line of the story going to be?
One fanfic that I've written starts out with someone spying on a murder for hire meeting. I had a lot of fun working on that one.
