Trying not to let it annoy me that the author I bid on for a fic back on December 1, 2012 hasn't delivered on the fic.

I emailed her back in July and she said she hadn't gotten the chance to finish it but would do so asap.

Now it's been another 4 months and she just posted a fic (like 600 some odd words), but no word on the fic for me.

I totally get that RL comes first and it can get very hectic and muses dry up, but just dropping a line for update would be great.

This is kind of souring me on participating in something like FandomAid. I'll just donate without worrying about the promise of someone giving something in return.

I don't participate in those fan auctions any more, for the same reason. I once won a bid on a vid from a vidder whose work I adored and I was super excited. We talked about music choices and other things, but she never made it. She said she lost her vidding muse. Very annoying.

was she upfront about that, or did a bunch of time go by and you contacted her to see about it?

No, a few months went by and I contacted her to see what was going on. :(

communication is key with something like that.

Well, I offered some graphics stuff for a bid once. I made sure to finish on time since the person paid for that. So it kinda really sucks that this girls hasn't finished your fic yet. OK, I agree RL is important but if she's posted something else already, it seems to me she has not real interest in finishing your fic.

That's what I was thinking. For what I donated, it comes to a 10,000 word fic and that kind of count takes time if you have a busy life.

I'd just like to know that my fic hasn't been forgotten about.

I just don't get why you would offer something like that and not follow through on it or contact the person who won with updates.

I recently took part in an auction and I kept in contact with the person who won and ended up making more graphics than what I had offerered. Felt it was the right thing to do since it took me longer to make the graphics than I thought it would and my muse was also having fun making the graphics.

Yes. I guess that's what I'm upset about. The lack of updates.
