simplyn2deepmy overall thoughts: MEH! I wasn’t impressed by the episode. Didn’t need Doris and DEFINENTLY DIDN’T NEED CATHERINE! What is her point? Where is her character development!? So far I don’t think she’s earned the regular cast spot she was given. But on a plus, she wasn’t working the case like she has in the past…so there is that…

We didn't get any background on Max once he became a re-occurring character until 2.20? I agree we need more development, and I hope they give us some. Little pieces here and there is all they need to do. But I guarantee the part of fandom that is screaming the most about the lack of development will only scream even louder if we get a Catherine centric eppy that does give us the needed back-story.

I kind of suspect the whole McGarrett family was nothing but a cover for her and that she probably screwed half her targets when she was an active agent. Wanna bet that Wo is Steve's half brother? Or even worse, she seduced him when he was younger to get at his father?

Did they have him talking about/setting up a date with Catherine in the S1 episode that aired around Valentine's day? What about S2? Or was that Danny and Gaby?
Huntress69 has been saying that TPTB are going for a 'Don't kill him, he's your
halfbrother' reveal in a standoff between Steve, Doris, and Wo Fat. IDK how I'll feelifwhen that comes true...Sorry Liz, we kinda hijacked your comments *blushes*

Date: 2013-02-13 09:46 am (UTC)But I had major issues with most of the plot - for one, if the father was this kick ass Mr Miyagi of Hawaiian lost martial art, then I'm thinking he must have either been severely beaten before being tossed in the 'ring' before he fought, considering his daughter kicked ass thoroughly and fought off the two bad guys (albeit Steve interrupted the second time).
I do like Catherine but I agree, regular cast spot for being nothing more than a tool to get Steve information and be paid via sexual trysts. They don't need to give us a huge character arc to develop her but the relationship between her and Steve continues to bewilder me. But I still like her more than I did Lori.
As for the whole Mick PI thing - I just didn't understand it. If he's the 'guy who wrote the book on surveillance' he's obviously majorly lost his touch. Who on earth would use him to do PI work? If they wanted to bring in a love interest for Doris then don't do it so lamely. And it's about time Doris began to lose her touch, she isn't perfect and the more they try to make her out to be this stealthy, double 0 spy like character who is beyond all attempts to find out the truth about her, the more I wish her gone.
