of a pretty big kind too! For episode 3.01

So there's this

And I don't know if I'm going to like Doris much, but it's also reminding me about this review posted in the Examiner. Specifically the part this part:

Thrusting her in the middle of the McGarrett/Danno (Scott Caan) partnership shines a light on elements and eccentricities they each have let slide about the other, but because she is a fresh pair of eyes, and a straight-shooter at that, she calls attention to them immediately, forcing them to consider deeper than typical macho dudes might want to.

Doris trying to come off as everyone's mother. I don't know how well that's going to go over.

holy crap! while that's sort funny, I had this odd sense of deja vu and Lori prying into Danny's life as a "profiler".

She's been in hiding for 20 years. Times have changed and Danny isn't her son and she has no right prying into his personal life. Hell she probably doesn't have a right prying into Steve and Mary's lives anymore after what she did to "protect" her family.

I think Danny or Chin would/should be the ones to give her a piece of their minds, but considering what Chin's going through, I don't see that happening.

and I wonder what she has to say her Steve and Cath's relationship...

If it wasn't for what Chin will be going through, yeah, my money would be on him -- he picked Joe up at the airport and you could tell he was ticked off with Joe for all the secrecy. And he worked with Steve's dad; he's bound to have some feelings of his own about what Doris did, along with being protective of his friends and family.

I can see Danny or Kono talking straight to Doris, too -- I just hope it happens from ONE of them, anyway! :-)

My brain overloads when you throw Catherine into the mix. I'd somehow forgotten consciously that she's part of this now too (probably because I'm worried about how that's going to work out). Okay, I am officially like, "DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO THINK" about that. :-)))

I try not to think about Catherine much. I like her on paper, but then knowing she's going to be around more...and introduced "organically" just has all kinds of alarms going off.

What if it's Doris pushing Steve and Catherine together more that causes the problems between her and Steve...

Oh, me too -- I like Catherine on paper, but I was pretty darn happy to just have her show up occasionally, not be living on the island. And that "organically" is SCARY.

What if it's Doris pushing Steve and Catherine together more that causes the problems between her and Steve...

The possibilities are so intriguing. And how Catherine will react to Doris -- man, I just don't have a clue about the Catherine/Doris/Steve thing. My brain goes explodey now, I think...

It could go the other way. Doris not liking Catherine and that drives them apart.

I'm basing this on the clips we've seen, but Doris comes off 1 of 2 ways for me: no one is good enough for her son, thus how she acts with Danny in the car or she really wants Catherine and Steve together because Catherine can totally hold her own and Steve needs someone like that in his life and blah blah blah.

I kinda don't want her to want Steve and Catherine together, maybe (I haven't really thought this through, just sort of winging it here). I guess because I want her to be sort of messed up after what she did to her children and her husband, how she's been living, the choices she's made -- and I want that to translate into being maybe jealous of Steve's attention, or wanting to try to be a MOM now to the point she's going overboard on trying to control things. If she's together enough to think "Catherine, similar training/professional background as Steve, a strong woman, she would be good for my son" and to think that unselfishly -- that makes her seem less messed up to me, and I'm such an angst junky that I want it all to be messy and screwed up and really not a very good mother-son-and-son's-friends/partners relationship.

And I think my brain really is packing it in now after babbling so much. I have no clue what I just said in the paragraph above this -- I may need to shut up now. :-)))

That makes sense. you want her at odds with everyone/everyone to be protective of Steve after what she's done for the last 20 years.

That would make for good drama if it's done correctly.

Man, I would LOVE it if they would do that correctly! :SO. MANY. HEARTS.
