I have a Notary "business" and today got a letter from the EDD (unemployment in the state of CA) advertising that since I have a business, if I wanted to list it with them to get employees, I could...and they gave me a form to fill out and fax.

Sorry. I don't have a business like that. I'm pretty sure they got my information from when I renewed my business license with the city I live in. I wouldn't have even shelled out the money for it if I wasn't so paranoid someone would find out that I am a notary in the city without a business license.

The super sucky part is, I've advertised with a lot of people that I'm a notary and I've given out business cards, and then find out from others that a lot of the people I TOLD I was a notary, went to others to have documents notarized, and then they're like "well I didn't know you could do that!"

OMG! so yeah, for the last 14 months or so, I haven't notarized a darn thing. $100+ going to waste. I don't think I'm going to renew my notary license come December 20, 2014 unless I start putting it to use now.

Yeah. for a second I thought I applied for partial unemployment. I did that a few years ago and got a weekly check of $25. wow!

I've never even heard of partial unemployment lol But hey, $25 is better than nothing!

It's for if you work part time and make under a certain amount per month or week.

Full unemployment is if you aren't bringing in any income.

I don't think they take into account if you're receiving any kind of assistance (like food stamps), but it does have to be listed if you are
