for tkeylasunset I'm going to watch Enemy Mine...and then if I remember, I'll come back to this entry and give my thoughts.

Oh second thought, I'll give a running commentary under the cut

so here we go! a 1hr 52 min 1985 science fiction movie

I was only 3 yrs old when this movie came out! I wonder if it's something my mom would have watched? LOL I should ask her tonight.

I should also state that the only reason I'm watching this is because it was mentioned on episode 2x08 Lapa'au (which means healing)

Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett, Jr?! wow! wonder if I'll be able to recognize them

so "back then" they thought that by the 21st Century all the countries of the world would be united in harmony? LOL that's funny

of course there's always "someone else out there" with other plans/ideas. That should just be a given no matter what.

a lot of the space debrit looks like wreckage from various versions of The Enterprise

that drac language sounds like Russian or something

oh yeah, I recognize Randy Quiad

oh smart Will! you went after the drac and got yourself stranded...oh and killed Joey killed too

yeah no amount of yelling is going to bring him back...but you might attract some unwanted attention

omg now you're going to trek across the planet to where the drac ejected & crashed to exact more revenge!? when will silly humans learn?!

that turtle like thing is going to get eaten. gross

so I'm just waiting for the elien to spot will...

and look, Will lost his gun, so the drac gets 'his' and Will puls out a knife?

never bring a knife to a gun fight!

that's some crazy looing lightening

so the drac either doesn't like the lightening?

stupid Will trying to go after the drac gun

or set the pind on fire since the drac jumped in

ha! he got you Will! electrofied its ship

oh that drac doesn't like being call names

oh Will that's gross! why'd you eat that worm thing?!

is that a meteor shower? it's kinda blowin' up stuff too

oh that drac helped Will. how nice

well thank you wikipedia! the drac Will was with is Louis Gossett, Jr. I thought it could have been him but wans't sure

really Will?! that Drac saved you and you want to try and kill him

haha! that drac called the shelter that Will built shit and said it wasn't soild

the drac's laugh is funny

haha Mickey Mouse is a "great eath teacher"

oh they're learning each other's language. seems like Jerry the Drac is learning faster than Will the human is learning the Drac language

uh oh will fell into that crater/hole that eats the turtle like creatures

oh crap! is it like ripping his leg off?!

so Jerry saves Will and was like "maybe I need to look at another face...even as ugly as yours" haha

"compared to dracs, humans are ugly" wow, okay

okay, nearly 40 minutes in and it's okay. quite a few funny bits. so far no tears

Will discovers that the shells of the turtle like creatures could be meteor proof and good for their shelter and asks a rhetorical question to Jerry
"Where would you be without me?"
"Back home" haha

aww touching moment. they apologized for talking trash about each other cultures/races

I guess if you understood the Drac language, this would be a touching moment

and now they're fighting abt which race is the scavenger and which is an explorer

now there's an hour left of the movie. so far it's still okay.

aww this is kind of sad. Jerry won't leave shelter with Will because he (Jerry) has no interest in Will's dreams

and jerry's crying. even more sad

just like humans! going to there places and litering! but at least Will found signs of humans

Will going back "home" to Jerry and Jerry is sick?

and the reason that Jerry couldn't go with will - he's pregnant! holy crap!

and now Jerry wants to know what Will found. he can't possibly tell him of the scavengers who use Dracs as slaves

aww Jerry's making clothes for his baby

oh no! that creature that lives under ground is back! it's going to get Jerry while he sleeps!

oh no! their shelter has been destroyed

and they found a cave for shelter

now Jerry is going to teach Will the Drac history

and Will is telling Jerry about his lineage

Jerry has to sing it? well he has a nice voice

I wonder if pregnancy was making Jerry more emotional

oh I think this is the birth scene that Danny was watching on H50

and something's wrong with Jerry.

wow that's a pretty big thing that Jerry is asking Will to do

aww no sad. Jerry died.

And Will had to delivered the baby

yeah, no. didn't cry at the delivery scene

and now the montage of the baby Drac growing up

and now Will teaching the little Drac about the difference between humans and Dracs

so humans come back and Will leaves the little Drac (Zammis I think is his name) to investigate. that's not safe

I can totally see the more touching moments

teaching Zammis football. really. okay, guess that's kind of cute

aww Zammis wishes he was human and not Drac

okay, NOW I'm tearing up.

oh no Zammis! he went to see the Dracs and humans That's going to scar him so much

oh wow! Will was killed and Zammis taken

20 minutes to go and this will be over

what the heck! Will is going to be sent to space

holy crap! Will came back to life!

how did they find out who he was so fast?!

and Will wants to go back

and doing what Will did is how you get in a lot of trouble with the military

time to kick some scavenger ass and get Zammis back

those Drac are very helpful. they know Will as Uncle

hope he finds Zammis alive!

oh no! is Zammis dead?!

and here come the calvery!

but first the Drac are rising to fight back?

that was a close call!

so Zammis tells Will he looks terrible because he has no facial hair

now to the Drac home planet for Will to fulfill his promis to Jerry

I would have thought they'd show some of the Holy Counsel ceremony instead of just talking about it.



so...over all this was an interesting movie. I think if it would have been done today, a lot of things wouldn't have been glossed over with the "talking" summary and somethings that was shown would have been cut out

This is one of those movies that if I happen to catch it on TV, I have to watch it. I've always liked it. I haven't actually seen it in about 3 years, though.

If your cable/satellite service has the MoviePlex channel, Enemy Mine has run a few times this month. It was just on twice on Thursday, I think, or maybe yesterday (Friday).
