While sitting outside at a subway, a lady and her daughter came up to me and the lady was like, "can I ask a favor? I'm not going to ask for money, but for a sandwich," and I was like I have one here and gave her the 2nd one I bought that I was going to eat later.

the thing about this is that at the last minute I decided to get the sandwich - it was plain, bologna, ham & turkey with a little cheese and lettuce, not how I get it at all. Also, when I was paying, the clerk was like "Is this for here or to go?" again, last minute decision to eat there when I usually eat at the bus stop.

So, when I gave the sandwich to the lady, the little girl with her was so happy and was like "Yay! thank you!" and the lady was shocked that I pulled the sandwich out of my bag and handed it over without a second thought.

I feel good.

I know exactly what you mean. The one pharmacist at work is okay but sometimes he PMS's if we spend too long with a customer. Sometimes they need just a little more attention than others do. I had this one guy that was sent to our department for something that had nothing to do with us (he was looking for silverware and kitchen stuff). It was like a serious wtf is the floor associates thinking moment. He was physically handicap and in a wheelchair doing everything for himself. It wasn't the regular hospital type wheelchairs but one of those that have higher back support because the person is incapable of holding themselves upright. It would have been an extremely tiring ride for him to push himself.

Our policy is not to just do things for the customers with special needs. I asked him if he would like me to push him to the area so that he could give his arms a break (he was looking quite tired at that point from the run around). He was so extremely grateful that he pushed himself back to the pharmacy later to thank me again (and I rang up his purchases there even if he had more than the maximum allowed as the vultures up front would eat him alive through the checkout).

The customer behind him was nice and patient as well, even helping to hook his bags up on the back of his chair for him and waited until I was completely done with him before asking his question that he needed help with.

Of course that was the only shining moment that day. The rest of the zoo resumed its natural behaviour that made me want to hide in the bathroom as much as possible.

For once I'm glad that I wasn't asked for money. All I had was my money to get home on the bus and I would have had to turn them down.

That's pretty cool. But question, were the lady and the girl sitting outside when you went in? Because maybe unconsciously you saw her and bought the sandwich lol

No. I was nearly done with my first sandwich when I saw them walking down the sidewalk, then crossing the lawn to where I was sitting. It was sort of like they appeared out of nowhere. lol then like I sort of watched them walk away and when I really looked the direction they'd gone, I didn't see them at all.

Then maybe the Gods were testing you!

Speaking of Gods, did you see the new cover for The House Of Hades? Holy crap, I want this book like NOW. (And it's not even out until October! *sigh*) Definitely a bigger fan of the US cover than the UK cover, for sure!

I totally need to pull my head out of fanfic because I'm so behind on all of his books! I haven't finished reading Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, and I'm not even half way through book 1 of the Kane Chronicles!

The UK cover looks like it's a movie poster! The US cover fits how the other US (?) covers look and I like that.

Yes you do! :P

Wow, you really need to catch up! Plus, The Son Of Sobek comes out next week! Can't wait to see Carter and Percy. About time he had them face off.

It does, but I still like the US artwork. They probably have the same artists do the covers.

Evidently that whole exchange was meant to be. That's so very awesome. I have a friend who says There is no such thing as coincidence(TINSTAC), and I firmly believe this is true! Awesome example of it! ;-)
