This is sort of in response to an upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-0, so I'm putting behind a cut.

As a woman with brown skin, I don't find it the least bit offensive when actors are made to be darker than they are to fill a role that a show/movie couldn't get casted by people who actually fit what was being looked for.

Though there was one movie that I found offensive and that was Tropic Thunder. I think that had more to do with the actual actors than anything else.

Also, no, I haven't experienced racism and if I have, I didn't know it and I'm grateful for that and also sorry that those who have experienced it had to. I know, only from what I've seen and read and heard from my parents, aunts and uncles, that it was cruel and shouldn't have happened.

Were some ppl complaining about it? No, I don't see that there is anything wrong with it, that is not racism, it's making someone look the part, like dying a blonde to brunette to fit a role or adding tattoos by makeup...in my opinion anyway.

Yes, I thought it was complaining, mostly because I didn't see the problem with it, but can understand why others would have a problem. But there was an open dialogue about it.

I wanted to contribute but doing that in less than 140 character is hard and all I would have had to say was what I just posted.

I think some people are just too overly sensitive these days and look for problems to bring up. They need to lighten up,..bad term of phrase considering the topic lol

Egan's going to be an extra in episode 4.21 and he posted pics of himself in various stages of make up/costuming.

A few people voiced their dislike of who he was portraying/the subject matter of the episode.

It seemed like it all boiled down to race and how it's portrayed in the media/Hollywood.
