working on the tags for stevedannoslash and I almost want to pull my hair out!

why are there tags for het pairings when it's a slash community?!

also, I'm really starting to doubt whether I should do away with the individual author tags. It's going to be a bitch to go through each entry and re-tag everything

I've gotten A-F redone and jumped to N and P. I need to cover tags G-M, then Q-Z

I'm pretty sure when a tag is re-named, everything with the previous tag gets the new tag. If that's the case, I won't have to worry about much...it's just a lot to go through. Maybe I should ask for help once I get the tags finalize and put in LJ

It's 3 p.m. I need to leave or I'm going to miss Maury!

I used to mod and own several coms, I do not envy your task. It's funny, I finally got the old mod to give me an author tag over there :)

theoretically having a tag for each author is a good thing but if the community has over 1000 members and a good portion of them are writers, thats crazy to have that many tags...plus tags for genre and pairing (tho in a steve/danno comm, I don't think past pairings or minor pairings should be tagged so I'm still debating with myself on that)

I like author tags because if I read a story by someone, I can click on their author tag to see what else they've written. On the other hand, it makes tagging tough and you have to manually add new authors. I see both sides.

I don't look at minor pairings, though I like genre tags.

Again. I don't envy your hard work. It's a lot to take on! Polls are always good when it come to changes, asking people what they prefer, suggesting the changes to see overall opinion to avoid unexpected grumpiness.

I've dealt with both in the past. Both indifference to change and some major opinions to change. It's weird from com to com.

I did an informal poll wanting people to comment with their thoughts and that didn't get much response. Maybe I'll try an actual poll where people can make selection

Het pairings are for when there's a mix of slash and het, at least that is my thinking. To help you out with Author Tags, maybe ask the authors themselves to make sure their fics are tagged. And no, I didn't start on the bunny comm yet LOL.

I haven't seen a problem with the lack of tagging of entries it's just that there's a lot of tags to begin with

I'm part of a large comm (over 2k members I think) and they have a mod that is there specifically for tag wrangling. Maybe you could look at that as an option?
