if a fic you edit gets more comments/kudos than something you wrote, how does that make you feel?

I'm confused and yeah, a tad bit jealous.

but I guess it's really a testament to how good their story is, but then that still doesn't make me feel any better.

Comments/kudos are seriously the most random thing ever, don't take them too seriously! And sadly good stories get overlooked sometimes. You probably have good taste, and a talent for recognize good writers and help them flourish, all the success of the story you betaed also reflects well on you too!!

This fic has been a difficult one for me to beta. The author speaks English but they're from another country so it's not written in American English. But I'm enjoying the story, so that's good.

As long as you're enjoying it! And if we're talking someone who doesn't speak English as a first language, you are seriously doing them a huge favor, that can be really intense work!
