Does anyone know if there's an LJ comm for the new CBS show Elementary?

and also, would anyone be interested in some icons from the first episode?

I guess you really liked Elementary? I thought it was meh. Way too much exposition for my tastes, I think. They talked the whole time. I know they had a lot of backstory to cover but it really didn't do anything for me.

There were also some things about the episode I just didn't understand. Like why the poor murdered woman built a saferoom she didn't tell her husband about. IDEK. It just didn't hang together for me. NOT that Hawaii Five-0 is perfect in its story-telling. But all the pretty distracts me.

I'm not a 'Baker Street Irregular' so I guess I'm not the target audience. And all of Sherlock's anti-social behavior (which is really one of his defining traits) annoys me. That kind of renders it impossible for me to fully enjoy any adaptation.

I really wanted to like it, really. But it left me cold. (And I'm sorry.)

I was wondering what others thought of it, though.

Will you share what you really liked about it? Maybe I can look at it from a different viewpoint.

I watched for Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu. I loved Jonny in Hackers and while I haven't been too fond of Lucy's past roles (namely when she was in the Charlie's Angels movies), I thought she made a good Watson.

I liked how they sort of explained why Sherlock was in the US. They touched on his drug use and mentioned his work with Scotland Yard and then to kind of tie in how he was working as a consultant in NY, there was an American police Captain (I believe) who he crossed paths with years earlier when the Captain was working with/for Scotland Yard.

I sort of ignored the plot holes from the first episode. The way I see Sherlock is, he's all about talking. That's his thing. When he isn't thinking (and speaking where his thoughts left off and becomes utterly baffled as to why others can't follow along with his logic), he's talking and expecting people to be right there with him.

did that part even make sense?

I'll probably give up watching it after a few episodes, but so far it's got my attention. I almost always watch anything Sherlock related

I really enjoyed Elementary. I like the idea of it and I think it can only get better. I've also loved Jonny since Hackers (and Trainspotting), and Lucy since Ally McBeal. She was pretty much the one reason I ever watched that show. I still need to see the BBC's Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. And I should really read some of the Sherlock books.
