So, I just lost a filling in a broken tooth. Looks like it's time to make a dentist appointment.

It's been 4 or 5 years since I was last at the dentist, so I'm in definite need of a cleaning (at the least) and I have 4 or 5 broken or missing back teeth (how I'm still able to eat is a mystery to me!)

So long as the dental work I need to have done doesn't top $5000, I'll be okay to pay using my credit card (and adjust my spending yet again to cover those monthly payments) since I don't have insurance.

I just don't want to deal with the disapproving looks from the dentist and the assistant.

eta since it's been so long, I couldn't remember the name of my dentist, but by some sort of awesomeness, we had the magnet for the dental office on the fridge, so I look them up to see if it's the same location, and it is! So I made an online appointment and should hear back from then between 1 and 3 today (I hope).

this is me anxious again...

I have had so many dental problems in the past year alone (I have a history of bad gums and also have had major bone loss in the past few years) and I too hate dealing with those looks. There is a plan called Care Credit that I use for him, which gives me low monthly payments. Glad you're going though, get those teeth in tip-top shape asap! XXOO!

a few yrs ago, my plan was to have all major dental work done by my 30th but oops, I sort of forgot about that, so now I figure, I'll do something every few months until it's all done.

I like that my dentist allows for full payment upfront or pay for each treatment as you go. Like last time I need to have a root canal and crown and since I was paying out of pocket, I paid for the root canal first, then the following month when I got the crown put in, I paid for that.

No telling what I'll need to have done this time around *sighs*

When I was last going, all of the work I needed to have done was something like $1370 and I asked my church if they could help me out. They did (giving me the full amount I needed), but wasn't able to finish all of the work. I felt bad because I only used half of that for treatments before they suddenly raised the amount that it would be for the work. It was still good work, but I couldn't afford the extra $200 for some additional work that needed to be done.

I would almost say ask the church for help AGAIN and pay them back instead of paying that ridiculous interest to the card. Just a thought.

my credit card is 0% interest for 15 months (November of next year)!

with dwindling membership, the weekly offering has decreased and we're lucky that what we get in is able to cover the bills, then the rent from the Spanish church covers anything else.

Five thou is a LOT to pay back though and unless its paid in full they back that interest all the way back so be careful with that.

I don't mean 5K at once. I meant for the total work. I only pay for the work I had done. Like last time it was 1370 or so for all the work and each time I went in, I paid 175 or 125 until all the work was done. some things the dentist suggested (like braces) I opted not to have done so that reduced the overall amount that I'd be paying.
