so I have like 5 textbooks I no longer need/want and have attempted to sale them twice on half.com with no luck.

a friend told me to try craigslist so I listed 1 book and got 2 emails (I think they were from the same person?) well anyway, I accepted the offer of the one who said I'll send you money now for the book.

I give my office address bc fuck if I'm going to give my home address and I purposefully left out my phone number and said any further correspondence can be done via e-mail.

Oh, did I mention the buyer also offered an additional $20 bc I would have to wait 4-6 days for payment to arrive (I was selling the book for $50 +$5 for shipping and the guy was basically going to pay me $75 for the book where new on amazon was like $50 something!) whatever.

So then like an hour ago, I get an email that amounts to "omg my assistant did the cashier's check for more than we agreed and it's already been mailed. when you get it, keep the amount we agreed on and western union me back the rest - minus western union fees" when I read that, red flags went off in my head, but the guy won't tell me how much exactly the check was made out for.

so now I'm like UGH! I don't know if I'll use craigslist anymore. But I'm more freaking out bc I don't know how much the check is for and there's all sorts of outrageous amounts floating around in my head.

Stop freaking. I'm sure it'll be fine. Selling on Craigslist isn't usually all that bad. Maybe you picked the one weirdo.

What are you looking to sell? Elizabeth takes AP classes and maybe she can use them.

Email me the names and I will have her look them up and see if she wants any of them. She is currently studying law in HS and will continue in Uni. If not, if you want, I will post to my LJ and maybe we can get you a legit buyer...or 2.

Sounds fishy. Prior to depositing the check, maybe ask your bank if it's legit.

Why not resell the books on Amazon? I've had pretty good luck there, although you often have to wait and wait for someone to buy your stuff.

I've never sold anything with amazon. always half.com or e-bay itself. I'll look into that.
