Yesterday morning/afternoon I started to have a toothache. As the night went on, it got to the point where I could chew on the other side of my mouth because that was putting pressure on the side that hurts.

Then, holy crap, overnight, I was up every 3 hours it seemed because of the pain. I was restless to say the least.

I'm pretty certain that the toothache is really an infection of a broken tooth I need to have removed.

I thought I'd be able to go to the dentist today because on their website they have that they're open on the weekends. However when I called, the recording said they weren't open. I don't know if that was for today only or the weekend in general. But I guess it doesn't matter in the long run. This dentist charges like $275 for a damn extraction! No telling if it would be more than that since it's broken/just the root or whatever. I was going to ask my mom if she could cover it until I got my check in November, but she has her own medical bills to deal with now that she's going to the dr weekly for shots and there's an out-of-pocket expense for it.

In somewhat other related news, I heard on the news a few days ago about the open enrollment period for Cover California or something like that. Getting uninsured people health insurance at low to no cost. I put in my information to see what I would qualify for and they say according to my income, I might qualify for medi-cal. Hmm okay. I go to the medi-cal site and they want all this information about my parents (since I live with them) that I don't have...but as it looks, I might qualify for that. I need to speak with an actual person to see if I really need to give my parents income information since they already have health insurance. I also don't know if medi-cal has dental because that's what I really need at this point.

Time to find something to eat and fold up my clothes.

I've been there with that kind of toothache.

Rinse the affected area with warm salt water 2-3 times a day - this will fight off infection - keep your teeth clean and rinse with a mouthwash with alcohol before bed as well if you have it. Then you can get Tylenol 1's over the counter. This should help till you get to a Dentist.

That's what I've been doing - warm salt water rise, and taking Motrin every 3 hours (that's about how long the pain is bearable before it gets to be too much). Was able to get a dentist appointment for Friday and was told if the pain got to be too much, they'd try to squeeze me in on Wednesday.

Did you follow up about Medi-cal and Covered California?

I'm a little nervous about this whole thing. Using CC's shop and compare tool, it says that combined with my dad's income, I'm not eligible for premium assistance, but if I just enter my own income, I may be. Also, my income pretty much comes as a beneficiary of my mom's disability pension something that was passed onto me when she died. So I don't know how that changes my income exactly. Argh! (Plus, I hate filling out forms. BORING.)

No I haven't. Every time I go to the site, it either takes too long to load or when it does and I go through it, it tells me that I might qualify for medi-cal and my dad still won't give up his info. I need to call the county and see if they absolutely need their info

Oh jeez. Has your mom helped at all, or is she deferring that role to your dad? Hopefully you can get it all settled before the deadline! Or you can tell him it will be his fault that you won't have insurance for another year because he "declined the opportunity to help you become a responsible adult." (I don't think that, but it seems to me like that's how he sees things.)

If they give me a penalty, I don't know where they expect me to get the money from. I'll be out of a job December 31st and the only money I'll have are 2 financial aid checks and a "love" gift from the church

And your siblings aren't really an option either, right? I guess you could always start one of those GoFundMe campaigns? :\

I wouldn't really feel comfortable doing that - asking my siblings or the GoFundMe campaign.

I'm going to have to double my efforts in applying to jobs - going to job fairs when I'm not in class.

I know, but as a last resort at least those options are available. It'd suck, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
