that's how you get the blood pumping!

So California just had 2 earthquakes within an hour of each other and centered in the same areas (or within a mile or two of each other).

8pm was 3.5

9:06 pm was 5.3 or 5.4 (just downgraded to 5.1 but it felt too damn strong for that low a magnitude)

Fun times! I didn't feel the first one, but definitely felt the 2nd time

A couple of weeks ago, there was a 4.4 or 4.6 at 6am

Holy crud! Hope all's well. We get them in NY believe it or not, but the fault (upstate and into Canada) isn't very deep so they don't do much damage. Did tonight's cause a sound? I've heard it when we had one years ago - like a faint train sound.

where I live, earthquakes sound like a big rig trailers rolling by. For tonight, it was too strong and lasted about 20 seconds (the larger one that I felt) to be a truck, then the cat looked at me like "what the hell is going on?!" so I had to calm her down.

Not too scary, but it got my blood pumping that's for sure.

Thank you. It was very unexpected (as they are) and a bit thrilling

I honestly don't know how I missed them.

You didn't feel any of the ones on Friday or the 1 on Saturday?

[identity profile] dontelltheelf.livejournal.com 2014-03-31 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope! I don't know what I was doing, but I felt nothing. I don't think my dad felt it either. Maybe because we're farther away? *shrugs*

Mere felt the foreshock from Friday and I'm assuming the larger one that happened about an hour later.

It's about 12 miles from La Habra to Downey and about 30 miles from La Habra to Torrance and La Habra to Long Beach? (but my math really sucks lol)

I was moving around in my chair a lot while watching DVDs, so maybe that had a bit to do with it. I thought I knocked some things over, but maybe that was the earthquake? Yeah, don't look at me. Math and I are not BFFs. We're both like SUCK IT.
