big breath out

every time I scroll through page 1 of my friends page, I let a breath out and feel like I should be writing.

In fact, I KNOW I should be writing and I want to write, but I can't get in the right head space to write.

I also want to read. Fluffy/romantic/domestic Steve/Danny fic

I think I also want greasy comfort food. and milk chocolate.

Tomorrow is Friday. I go to "my" courthouse I've been volunteering at. N wants to hear about the case I was on. I also have to go to the church. I'll need to see if my mom or dad can pick me up as I will have gone through the BBQ supplies for Saturday's BBQ at the Pastor's house. I'll also need to go by the bank and grocery shopping to get the rest of the stuff my mom didn't get (and don't get me started on her going shopping without telling me).

and here I go letting out another big breath.

The car that was in the shop for 3 weeks is back in the shop! Last weekend there was something wrong with it and it ran hot too fast. So Sunday it was taken to the shop. I guess it was picked up on Tuesday and had a new water pump. Great! no longer running hot! However, there's now something draining on the battery? My dad has to hook it up to the portable charger to start it up. Though he thinks the alternator wasn't connected securely. I think he took it in today. No word on if it was worked on or if he drove it back home. It irks me my mom is being passive or something when it comes to letting my dad make all the decisions about the car. All the money he puts into frankenstein'ing these cars could be put towards getting a newer used car.

Oh, I also realize I haven't talked about my time on jury duty. Real quick: we reached a verdict on Tuesday after lunch. the defendant was on trial for molesting 2 of his nieces (on wife's side). He was also accused of, but not charged with, molesting a 3rd niece (still on wife's side) and his wife's youngest sister! Unfortunately we were only able to find him guilty on 2 of the 3 charges. He sort of had a hard enough time coming to a decision with those. The witnesses/victims were not helpful at all. It seemed like their favorite phrases were I don't remember. Also, we knocked the credibility of a lot of the witnesses down. But we found the defendant guilty of continual/continuous lewd conduct with a child under 14 and sexual molestation of a child under 14 and not guilty of sexual battery. The 2 guilty verdicts were for felony charges, so he's going away - unless the defense wants a re-trial or whatever.

I'd still like to do jury duty again. I could do without the long jury selection process. we went through 3 jury pools before both sides were satisfied. But my favorite part was the deliberation. Finally being able to talk about the trial with the jurors and hear what they thought.

Ugh, it scares me just how many people there are in the world like the defendant. I'm glad you were able to get him on something, but it definitely doesn't help the prosecution with unreliable witnesses. I'm sure he'll appeal.

after the trial, the judge was talking to us in the jury room he said the case he handled before was a father who raped 2 of his daughters! the oldest had even had a baby. and there were multiple abortions between the 2 daughters! He didn't tell what the verdict was on that one though.

And these were his own natural daughters? Ugh. I really hope the jury convicted and threw the book at him. People like that just don't deserve to live their lives without repercussion. I can't even imagine how much trauma those poor kids (and grandkids) are going through.

I don't recall if the judge specified if they were his birth daughters. But that's still all kinds of wrong. Dad is granddad *shudders*

Yeah, any kind of family relation. Ick.
