wish partly granted

This week I've been "on call" for Jury Duty and today when I called in, my group was selected to come in. YES!

And I don't have to report until 9:30 am! If I wouldn't have done the online orientation, I'd have to report at 7:30 am!

So, yes! My wish has been partly granted! Now I hope I get on a case.

eta I'll be taking the bus (we still only have 1 car and the parking instructions take a rocket scientist to figure out) and I have to leave at 6:30 am to be there by 9:30 am.

God! and there I thought I'd be able to sleep in! Then again, I also thought the car wouldn't be in the shop for the last 3 weeks, but I was wrong about that too.

Yay! I would like to be on a jury. I think it would be interesting. One time I got as far as sitting in the room while they interviewed potential jurors, but they chose everyone they needed before they needed to interview me. But even that was interesting!

That's basically as far as I got the last time I was summonsed. But I was excused because it was mid-terms time and my instructors wouldn't let me reschedule.

I'm hoping I get on a case. I'd go so far as to say it's on my bucket list lol

Sounds like jury duty is much more involved in California. I hope you get picked!

I don't think so.

there's still the group of potential jurors. both attorneys get to question the jurors, select the jurors they want and the rest go back to the assembly room until they're told their service is done for the year.

You are legit the only person I know who actually wants jury duty.

I've never been a juror on a case. I want to experience that.

I almost want to say serving on a case is on my bucket list.

I hate jury duty because there is always one juror determined to make everything about him.

Oh if there was someone like that, I'd cut them down to size right quick. I'm sure those are also the people who, after the case, give tell all interviews to the media - if it's that kind of case.

When it comes to jury duty I'm the total opposite and get excited when I'm told that I don't have to report.

Good luck tomorrow!

LOL I'm clearly in the minority

thanks

Still think you're nuts LOL But that's your right. So enjoy! Hope you get picked, then you can come back and tell us all how it went. If you do get picked, I hope it's something juicy and fun, and not something absolutely boring.

Which courthouse are you being sent to? Long Beach?

[identity profile] simplyn2deep.livejournal.com 2012-06-21 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, Downtown LA on Temple Street. it's a criminal court. so I hope it's something juicy too.

I've never been called to any of the courthouses in the cities surrounding me. always to downtown LA

Oh.. yeah. It'd be better to just take the bus/train. So less complicated, I'm sure.

How weird. I wonder how that worked out?

according to the orientation video I watch, potential jurors are sent where they are most needed

[identity profile] dontelltheelf.livejournal.com 2012-06-21 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, I remember that damn video. Ugh. I've had to watch it twice already.

I've been lucky. All the times but one, when I've gotten the jury duty notice, have been for the Torrance Courthouse. The one time I got called in was at Torrance. The last time, which I thankfully didn't have to serve, went to Long Beach.
