now for the not so educated guesses
ep 220 will be on 4/9
ep 221 will be on 4/30
ep 222 will be on 5/7 H50/NCIS:LA crossover
ep 223 season finale will be on 5/14

theellibu has given me additional information, so I've amended my guesses. we may be down an episode, but there's nothing official from CBS yet.

My brain is working overtime right now. I'm trying to think of reasons why it won't be this person or that person.

the way it's worded it can be anyone. I hope they (the writers) don't do something stupid and have to hand wave over the events come the season 3 premiere.

Horrible as this is to say: I hope it's one of the HPD people. And TPTB are using 'one of their own' in the broader sense to mean 'one of their fellow law enforcement agents' and not 'one fo the core four'.

that's what I initially thought. bc i think if they did one of the core 4, they may have to do a lot of backpedaling come the season 3 premiere due to backlash.
