reading

my fic for [livejournal.com profile] h50_harlequin is based loosely on the story Race Against Time by Christy Barritt

I've never read the book, so I wanted to check it out from the Library. I checked online at 3 libraries and none of them have it. The book was released in April, so maybe it takes time for it to arrive, however, I know at Downey's Library, they list books they have in process before they're placed in circulation, and it's not even listed there.

Okay, fine. I'll buy the book. I check at Borders/Barnes & Nobel and the 3 stores near me are sold out. How many copies were ordered that they're out of stock after a month?! Or maybe Harlequin books are just that popular.

All that's left is for me to buy the book. If I get it from the Harlequin site, I'll have it in roughly 15 days (3 days for processing and 6-10 days for shipping).

Also, I don't know how Amazon has used copies of the book. *shrugs*

I've got my date

Wednesday at 2:30 pm I will be taking my behind the wheel test at the DMV!

*throws confetti*

Sometime on Tuesday, I'll be able to practice with my neighbor's car and Wednesday I need to get home ASAP from the courthouse to get to the DMV by 1:45 pm.

In the mean time, I've picked my prompt over at [livejournal.com profile] h50_harlequin. It has to be a minimum of 1,000 words. Considering the last few fics I did that had the same minimum count and I went well beyond that, I know I won't have a problem with this. I'm also thinking of using some ideas from episode 1x09 Po'ipu/The Siege (the Nick Taylor episode) and episode 2x15 Mai Ka Wa Kahiko/Out of the Past (the Rick Peterson episode)...in the end, it'll more or less be an AU, where Danny isn't a cop, but Steve is still a SEAL turned head of the Governor's Task Force. I haven't decided what Danny's occupation is going to be. I have quite a bit of time to think about it. Posting doesn't begin until October 1.

open for business

[livejournal.com profile] h50_harlequin is now open for business...or rather claiming prompts!

Prompts are on a first come/first serve basis in the order they were requested. Claiming will end on June 1, 2012. However, a second round of claims will open on July 1, 2012.

I'm going to wait a bit and see what others claim in hopes of helping me narrow down my decision.

There's 40 to choose from.

I thought I knew before the ones I might want to do, but now I don't know! There's maybe 3 that I hope someone does as I don't have the talent to do them.
