I don’t know if my Pastor is going to change how we are having service after these 2 weeks, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he pushes the virtual service to April 5 and then we chance it by having service on April 12. We’re a small congregation, with no more than 50 on a given Sunday, but our holiday services are easily 75 people…but at the same time, they could end up staying home and we are less than that. I don’t know how it’s going to shake out.
I’m a part of my church’s worship team and the smaller choir that does Easter and Christmas Cantatas. Our Easter Cantata was canceled because the pianist is having open heart surgery and his wife is the choir director. That’s too much stress on them. Plus, we can’t meet up to practice since the church is closed. We usually practice 3-4 consecutive Sundays in advance since they’re all songs and Bible readings we’ve done in the past. This time around, it was going to be like 2 or 3 songs with the Pastor doing his usual solo and then one of the songs was going to be in Spanish and between each verse was going to be a Scripture reading. Overall, I think it’s good we canceled the adult part of it. That was going to be too much stress. As far as I know, the kids weren’t going to do anything either, because we were limiting contact with them as well. This Easter time is definitely a weird one.
My friends who work at supermarkets say they’re getting shipments in/have gotten them in early this morning, but they live hundreds of miles from me so I don’t know if the ones around me have gotten their shipments in today or if it will be tomorrow. But I think we’re okay with food and hope that when I go to the market over the weekend we will have better luck because everyone has hoarded enough already.
If I can beat this depression I feel into submission to get some writing done, I should be able to join in at the community this weekend.
