I have 8 days to finish my h50_holidayswaph50_holidayswap fic! It's due on December 24th!

Since I scrapped (sort of) the last 2 fics I had in mind for this, I have a grand total of zero words for this new idea.

Also, I know I was supposed to have contributed twice to [community profile] fannish_advent/fannish_adventfannish_advent, but I just haven't had the motivation. sucks hardcore! But I did download some Polar Express screencaps so I can make some icons and hopefully post them before the comm closes for the season. *crosses fingers*

Anyways...I'm gonna do some writing now.

PS it seems my work internet speed is back to where it should be. I think it slowed down so much because I'd done a lot of downloading. My laptop can't/won't connect to my sister's wireless and she makes a lot of noise when one of her kids asks to use her laptop to type up some school papers, so I'd rather not have that annoyance directed towards me.

has it really been 3-4 days since I last posted? According to the calender here, it has been. sorry?

Still having internet problems, however the bill was just paid so I'm hoping sometime this week or the beginning of next week the speed picks back up. If it doesn't, then maybe there's some other problem and I just don't know how to search it out.

After being able to drive myself around for the last 27 days or so, the car is officially dead. After the unsuccessful jump-starting on Thursday, my sister and the mechanic both said its more the likely the alternator that's gone bad or whatever and is preventing the car battery from staying charged. I told my dad all of this and that I was in contact with the mechanic, and he said for me to leave the car where it is (which is in the parking lot at the church) and he'd deal with it when they got back in January. Lovely.

Looks like I'm back to riding the bus. *sighs*

I have been toying with the idea of renting a car for December 21-24, but I know that's a waste of money. I'll just have to rely on the bus to get the grocery shopping for the church Christmas dinner done and then ask my sister to take me to storage so that I can get the crock pots and dutch ovens for what I'm going to cook. And on the 23rd, I'll be at the church pretty much the whole day like usual. Church service, lunch, decorate for dinner, cook my parts of the dinner, and put all the food out. By then people will be arriving.

As of Saturday, we still haven't gotten any of our forwarded mail! I put in the request on November 19 and there's been no mail from November 23rd-December 8th! There will be major major hell to pay if any of the mail was returned to sender. Because according to the postal clerks I spoke with, it would take 14 (business) days to process the temporary change of address and the mail would be delivered after that. Well, 14 (business) days I guess would be today, but honestly, I don't know. Two clerks previously told me 7-10 (business) days and I'd have mail, then suddenly it was 14 (business) days. I don't even know if my sister is at the house or knows if the mail has come yet before I head to the post office to complain to someone about not having mail (I'd also like to tell my dad something other than "No, the mail hasn't been delivered yet.") eta Just texted with my sister. She said that the post office sent a post card confirming that our address has been temporarily changed to her address. But no other mail. So does this mean tomorrow we'll start getting mail? I fucking hope so! This is just ridiculous!

it's like I don't even have the internet...or I have dial-up because I can't download anything and I have to refresh pages a few times before it will load.

but at least I'm able to get on at all. I just don't get why I have a slow down all of a sudden!

Maybe I can asked my sister to use her laptop when I get back so that I can do my downloads and clear out my LJ inbox of the messages I'm keeping that have download links.

In a few weeks I'll have something exciting (to me) to post that's sort of fandom related? I don't know, but I'm excited about it.

I went by the apartment. We have a doorbell again! After years of not having one (my dad took it out for some reason), I saw the white button on the outside of the door. I wanted to push it and hope I could hear what it sounds like, but I feel weird going back there. I haven't seen the owner in a few days so I can't tell him that my dad wants him to call him (my dad) bc I don't know if the owner got the note I left last week. So from what I can see from the outside, we have vertical blinds in the kitchen and living room and a new doorbell lol I know know if the carpeting or flooring in the kitchen and bathroom has been replaced. I don't know if the cabinets have been replaced either. I don't even know if there are vertical blinds in the back bedrooms (I hope there are!).

Saturday at 3pm there's an alumni event for my high school. I don't know where or if it's even supposed to happen. The FB page just says it's going to happen on Saturday at 3 pm.

Also on Saturday is masheek2masheek2's birthday party. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do about transportation. I can drive to the park & ride and take the train or drive all the way there, or do public transportation the whole way and call my sister for a pick up. I'd rather not do option 3 because I'm sure she will be tired from spending a good portion of the day at a craft fair. Going to the park & ride would probably be best. It would save me gas and I wouldn't have to worry about feeding a meter in front of the bar or worrying about validating my parking by parking in the structure next to the bar. I have a few days left to decide.

Next Friday is the holiday luncheon for the Legal Aid staff and volunteers. I can't believe I've been volunteering there for 10 months! January 31/February 1, 2013 will be 1 year! I went for the interview on January 31, then started on February 1. I wonder if they will remember...

While I have a stable internet connection, it's not stable enough for me to download any of the tv shows I watched and have missed.

I also have to battle and refresh the browser a couple of times before pages load.

I've been dealing with this for the last 4 days, so today when the bill for Time Warner Cable Business Class came, I called them. Was on hold for like 10 minutes and the guy told me everything was running fine on their end and that he was seeing modem activity.

Be that as it may, why, for the last 4 days, as it been hit or miss getting pages to load and virtually impossible for me to download anything? Being told it would take 2 hours to download something, when last week, the same thing took 10 minutes tops, is ridiculous! also, being told that something is going to take 22 hours to download is even more ridiculous!

I'm like 4 or 5 episodes behind on Arrow (though I did watch last week and was sort of lost), I'm maybe 3 episodes behind on Criminal Minds, I think I missed 2 episodes of CSI. I think those are all the shows I watch. You won't catch me missing an episode of Hawaii Five-0 unless I absolutely can't get to a tv to watch it, so I'm okay with that.

Speaking of Hawaii Five-0, I've been so busy battling episode downloads that I forgot that I need to post my review for last night's episode. will be doing that soon.

it feels like I'm missing out on a lot of stuff since I don't have the internet 24/7 (update on that in a bit), but when I get to my office, which is where I'm at for a 3rd time today because of internet withdrawals lol, nothing has really been updated.

I don't spend lots of time on sites like AOL Rocks or Book 'em Danno, but I do follow the updates on twitter and/or facebook.

There haven't been any new fic posted that I haven't already read...but I'm not in the right area to write - I have the words, but not my usual writing place (my bedroom).

Last night, Jasmine asks my sister to turn on her T-Mobile HotSpot so she could get on the internet. I wasn't asked if I wanted to get on the internet as well, so I decided to call T-Mobile and see what I would need to do to get it myself. After over an hour and 2 different tech calls, it turns out, my service plan includes the HotSpot feature! I just needed to turn it on, and connect my laptop to it! Well that's great! I get walked through it and by all accounts, it should connect me to the internet, however, that's not the case. The signal is being sent to my laptop, but something is preventing my laptop from receiving the wireless signal! I don't think T-Mobile tech support can help with that. My next option is to ask John (the church's computer go-to guy and my boss' husband) or wait until January when my parents return and have my dad to look at it. But I'd go to the Geek Squad before asking my dad because he doesn't exactly have the best track record with setting up wireless internet at home.

Like I said, I just feel like I'm missing out on stuff even though my LJ feed hasn't been updated in the last 30 minutes, but before that it was something like 5 hours between updates! I could work on graphics. I haven't done any for h50icontesth50icontest since challenge 66 and challenge 68 is going on.
